THANK YOU for bringing up the point that Aang is a monk and that Katara is not. People seem to ignore this point and not realzie that Katara is a regular teenage girl who feels responsible for her mother's death since she herself was the last water bender, not her mom.

It's actually pretty sad to see how the general turned out. He went from this imposing figure who murdered people for the fun of it to a sad, pathetic old man who became a slave to his mother. I feel bad for him in a weird way

YES! Everyone always goes to Tales of ba Sing Sei (which let's be honest means Iroh's Tale because it doesn't matter how many times you see it. it CRUSHES your Heart every single time) Southern Raiders is the BEST Episode Ever because it puts closure to the forming element of who Katara is and accepting Zuko as a friend it also illustrates the problem I've always had with Aang the pacifist because in the moment Zuko is right Forgiveness isn't a switch and it's not an all or nothing option (Katara forgave herself not him and don't think Aang has enough sen) and she knew her mother wouldn't want her to become a cold-blooded murder Zuko himself was the ONLY person in the team that could've gone on this mission with her he knew she needed at least the opportunity to choose for herself... And the BLOOD BENDING he didn't judge her when he realized what was happening he didn't ask "Katara what are you doing" or say "Stop this is wrong" like Aang or Sokka would've he knows what it's like to have so much hate and rage on one target that it really does block out just about everything else Wow that was an essay sorry just this is my FAVORITE episode of the show... Also I'm a Zutara shipper but that's not the point
@Rockotier4 жыл бұрын
really well said! there's a reason zuko goes on these "field trips" with each specific character. the series definitely seeks to highlight the comparisons between aang and zuko the most, but he has something in common with everyone else, too.
@@ohiochungusrizzler I understand the point but could NOT Disagree more my biggest problem with Aang is that the whole forgiving pacifist monk thing is in direct contrast with him being the AVATAR (I'm sure all the fire nation soldiers on the warships he sank at the North Pole were fine) and honestly he works so hard to detach that I don't think he really understands a driving sense of self especially in pain and tragedy like Zuko and Katara do *Yes Air Nomad genocide but he hasn't really had an extended period of time to carry that* Who Katara is was driven and formed by the grief she carried with her every day for years much like Zuko did and Yes part of taking her to the southern raiders fleet was getting her to forgive him but more than that was to try to make up for the wrong choice he made in Ba Sing Sei and to help her heal the same wound he has a LOST mother they were powerless to do anything about. they both became stronger fighters and more determined people from by in large the same source " THE FIRE NATION TOOK MY MOTHER AWAY FROM ME" Wow that was another essay sorry

NWCountryGirl17 Avatar State Aang is different from Aang. He doesn’t remember much from the Avatar State and doesn’t control himself. It’s kinda like how the Thanos Snap worked. The ones who got blipped felt as if they reappeared instantly, remembering nothing happening in between. Yeah, Zuko and Katara share a similar trauma, but I think Aang’s loss of his people, and Appa being taken took an emotional turn on him, just like how Zuko and Katara felt. I also feel like the love of Katara’s mother was rebirthed as Aang’s, just like how Katara replaced the Air Nomads’ love.
@NWCountryGirl174 жыл бұрын
@@ohiochungusrizzler yes it definitely took its toll but comparatively, it's VERY RECENT, but disregarding that the point of this episode wasn't "letting go Good, revenge Bad" Katara forgave herself, and coming to grips with that and still going on is something only Zuko could help with

5:45 and 6:30 speak volume! I know that they are not canon, but this episode screams as to why I love the relationship between Zuko and Katara.

Best episode by far. You get to see just how far the characters how come since Episode 1. Zuko's moral transition, Aang's wisdom, and Katara, my god, Katara was amazing in this episode. She could barebly hold water in the air in episode 1 but this episode shows just how far she's come to being a water bending master. She did some amazing water bending in this episode.

It's your and the uploader's opinion. I for one can't even decide what my favourite (note how I don't say "the best") episode is, a lot of them are great in this series. Which your fav is depends on how you think / what you prefer & value, how you feel etc.

@@ThePlasticBowl So what? People have this (imo) weird conception about older comments or threads being irrelevant or something. Why does their time/age matter to you? We could still talk about it if you want. I dunno, "ok" is just a weak response to me, it shows me that you saw my comment but that's it.
