I like the lyrics in his song. It starts with a soldier explaining the setting, and why he is at war. Then he harkens back to public opinion. Many times it is against soldiers, it is against guys like him. But he believes he is doing the right thing and will fight to the death for his family and his country. Then the situation changes. He is shot and knows that he is dying, so you see his thought process in his last moments of life. He thinks of God and eternity. Then, he thinks of his family, his girl and his wife. Finally, he knows with his death, his sinning has come to an end. He asks the Lord to leave his light on. And then that beautiful guitar you talked about, Gibby, comes in, to signify that he has been forgiven and is heading to Heaven. I just think it is a great subject that is covered very well and very inspirationally.

Think it goes little bit further than that, I believe the soldier committed suicide. Reason being, "Never meant to leave this world alone, I never meant to hurt the ones who care." Dude eventually lost it, and everyone in the process, and took his own life. Just my thoughts as an OEF combat vet.

PLEASE DO VICTIM! Story of Nightmare Album- Syn’s Grandfather has passed and he wanted to tribute an album to him and while through recording the album, the rev and succumbed to his battle of addiction and now Syn had lost his childhood best friend. Trying to cope with depression the band knew the best move is to finish strong because that’s what they want! The songs Save Me and Fiction were the last two the Rev was working on and shows the powerful message the band had for us when releasing the album!
@MattLescavage4 жыл бұрын
Ram I took it as he was addicted to opioids because the band also admitted it. And with the lyrics you’re talking about I took it as Jimmy said he knew he was addicted and that’s how he would be taking himself out! But I respect your view, I posted the comment more for the story of Syn and Matt writing the album. Much love brother!
@MattLescavage4 жыл бұрын
Ram I guess you’re right! Fiction was very strong and it very clear that it was all about the end. I’m not trying to argue, I’m simply here to encourage Gibby to expand more on the value of the music rather than the top songs. That’s all! All but respect for you Ram and thank you for sharing some new perspectives on the bands history!

@Ram Some say Fiction was his suicide note, but then others say it isn't, we'll never know the real truth behind it, we won't know that information behind all of it, we need to respect the band and no one should ask that information.
