This is supposed to represent the creation of the universe, the big bang, thats why there is a slow section that builds up (the "start" of the explosion), a total blast that breaks you up (the explosion itself) and then a slow section throughout the rest of the song, representing the start of life, finally, a build up to what is the universe today (Sorry if my grammar was crap, im portuguese)

there's a method to the madness that is this song haha. it's suppose to emulate the big bang, so each crazy section change you eluded to was a progression in the big bang, from the mayhem in the beginning, to the beginning of civilization when m. shadows vocals came in, to the end when tyson gives his speech. it's a masterpiece of a song especially when you understand the concept of it.

Nice reaction! They didn't put any vocals in the beginning for a reason though! The song is supposed to be a musical interpretation of the Big Bang, so the beginning would be like before Earth is even formed and then when all the shredding kicks in that's when the actual Big Bang occurs. Then when the guitars and drums are going crazy around the 5 minute mark in the song that's like when asteroids are just pounding Earth millions of years ago. Then it switches to being very soft, which would be the cool down period and then the vocals kick in when humans are on Earth for the first time. Also Neil deGrasse Tyson was the one giving the speech at the end. He wrote that speech specifically for this song!

Glad you enjoyed it! The song is about the Big Bang and the creation of the Universe. That is the reason it transitions so much because of how the Universe evolved. Then it ultimately puts the spotlight on our Planet Earth and then on to us Humans. I feel personally that they chose not to do vocals at the beginning because they hadn't gotten to the Human part of History yet. Then talks about how Earth is currently our only spec of dust within the Universe, and we don't want to throw that away :)

Glad you liked the song man. You should give it another listen and focus on what Neil deGrasse Tyson is saying. It seemed like you were ignoring that in the video and just listening to the music. It's some interesting shit, especially if you're into space, the exploration of space, and putting into perspective how insignificant humans are.

He does that. Unfortunately, that's one thing I honestly dislike in his reactions. He pays a lot of attention to the music, both instruments and voice. But he doesn't pay attention to the lyrics at all. He was practically laughing while listening to Sickness Unto You by Trivium, which, though brilliant, is actually a sad song.

I thought the most interesting thing about the song to me was when I sat down with the stage (the album) for the first time and looked at the track listing that 16 minutes song obviously really stood out. So as I was listening to the album as a whole the entire time I'm waiting this one song in particular and boy from the very start of it with the roller coaster if instruments you could tell it was gonna be something damn special. I always wanted a7x to do an instrumental and half way though I was so excited when I thought this was it but still loved it all the same. To me it started off with almost a DragonForce type vibe, then transitions to Metallica/dream theater, then to pink Floyd to almost a david Bowie "space oddity" vibe during the vocal section. Also loved that you noticed the drumming. A lot of people get caught up trying to listen to what Tyson is monologuing about at the end and completely kiss the fact that Brooks is going absolutely ham on the drums during it. I would say this song would have to be considered their greatest work of all time. Dethroning Second heartbeat and strength of the world to me

I think what people forgot to mention to you about this song, was the fact that you need to listen to it 10 more times, periodically, after shit like hurricanes happen, or old white bastards set the bar higher for the worst massacre in American history happens....the entire concept of this song was to make us feel small, because we are...and to have a band that actually understands that concept and translate that into a musical aspect, we should all feel very lucky that we live in a world that allows us to experience something like that. Also, the drummer was the former drummer of Bad Religion, a fuckin killer band in their own right as well, that I still have on my iPod Mini that I bought when I was stationed in Italy 10 years ago, and that I still use as a work-out motivator while I serve in the Air Force today.A7X is next-level as fuck, and I can't wait to hear their new shit. It's like Pink Floyd meets metal, and I fuckin dig it dude.

Metallica has stated that they are saving SPIT OUT THE BONE!!! for an Arena stage concert, and they have one arena concert in SEPTEMBER, the cancelled Royal Arena concert in Copenhagen in Denmark that got cancelled this early spring due to James being sick and had the flu, so there is a chance that as an extra plus for the fans who had to wait so long for the concert may be getting to hear SPIT OUT THE BONE LIVE.

Time fits into the Song. Not in this Video The Timelapse of the Universe 0:00-1:31 The almost empty universe 1:31-2:20 The Big Bang 2:20-4:06 The constant yet instability formation of stars and exo planets 4:06-4:40The formation of the Milky way. A place utterly insignificant and almost unregarded among the other millions 4:40-5:20 Earth formed and a part of us slips away forming the moon, which gravitates towards Earth. Forever then. 5:20-6:10 Our planet Earth revolving around it's axis, cooling down... 6:10-6:56 Water showering over Earth and the so thought Art begins 6:56-7:26 Evolution takes place from the first anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria to the hominids 7:26-11:45 Humans. The wannabe supreme beings reigns over. ( I sincerely do not know if this was a pretty neat idea) Till then, bask in with the final words of My Tyson. 11:45-15:40 ... "Until the rise of a new visionary culture, the cosmic perspective; a perspective in which we are one, fitting neither of the above nor below, but within." You totally missed the point of the song i think. It's called Exist. Its about creation, the different sections at the start being energies forming, the big bang, formation of galaxies, etc. Where you're saying 'it's very underwater sounding', thats us crawling out of the primordial ooze. The 'slow part' where the vocal finally begins, thats where man comes into the piece. No singing before that, because man wasn't around yet. And you spoke over the Neil DeGrasse Tyson voice-over so much that you missed the most fundamental meaning of the song - his words portray so eloquently our position within the universe, and the baser elements of our own nature we need to get over. If you did listen to it a few more times, would be curious to hear your thoughts after a few more rounds.
