People acting like this isn’t great singing after multiple surgeries and a vocal cord infection 😂 he sounds great here and towards the end even sounds more “normal” lessening on the new screaming technique a bit. Comparing his recent vocals to 2020 is fucking ridiculous. He used to not even hit high notes live (like the extra high in the final chorus). Listen to 2020 M.I.A and then tell me how “bad” he is rn. He sounds good and I’m grateful he didn’t retire from the infection.

I'd love to see a interview with a vocal coach and M shadows.... He's been doing this ear wiggle thing for ages I assume to get some ambient and some in ear for pitch but I'd love to ACTUALLY know what he's doing. He sounds great for his age and history of surgeries etc . Thankful they're still around making music and playing deeper cuts 👏🏻

He frequently gets rid of one of his in-ear monitors and instead pushes his finger against his tragus to close the ear, so he can hear himself better. As to his singing technique, he uses a pitched fry scream for his higher, distorted notes. It is essentially the technique that Chris Liepe teaches, albeit with less energy and different sound modulations using the larynx and tongue.
