To me, “A killer falling from the light” is saying how the person who had their family killed will now seek vengeance against the killer through murder and he has fallen from the grace of light to commit such an act. So it’s the actual person falling from the light, not God themself.

I believe the line "a killer fallen from the light" is referring to the singer/character himself. The previous line saying "a greater punishment on me has been imposed" reinforces that to me. He's saying he's tried prayer and decided not to turn the other cheek but to instead take vengeance by his own hand, but now he realizes that was not the right choice. His family is still gone, and now he's a shell of the godly man he was before. Great reaction regardless

Have you done Bat Country yet? This is the song that started getting them more commercial attention and radio play. It is one of their most popular and well known songs. It is fast paced and high energy. It is a must. You can't say you know A7X without doing this song. One of their biggest songs off of their most popular album City of Evil. If I had to choose only one song that best showcases what Avenged Sevenfold are all about then this would be it. The music video is a must.

This song always feels like going on an adventure to me, thought not one I'd want to go on personally... To comment on your points and views on this song and the things that were said in the song, I think it's sadly a natural human reaction to want to hurt someone when they hurt you. I think the reaction is, if they do it to me, I'm going to do it to you and that is " right " in the human mind I guess. No it doesn't make it right if someone does something to you for you to do it back to them, but it does make us feel better ( at least in the moment ) but even after that I think we realize the wrong in what we did and guilt follows. I guess it's different in every case and every person but those are just my thoughts on it.

My interpretation is the man whom lost his family, now having gained vengeance, is a killer himself Choosing the bloody path caused him to fall to the level of those he sought to punish He can never return to being who he was, and his hands will never again be clean Personally, I would also seek revenge. I'm not a religious man, but I do have a strong moral compass. I believe escalating situations frequently, and needlessly perpetuates hatred. In many cases, not all, this is my perspective That said, an act like this would be unforgivable. I know for certain I would not have the strength to resist savagely, brutally killing someone that hurt my family

@Devin Gibson: Bro, you're one of the few that has reacted to this song. To understand what this song is about, consider this: "Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Die, You are forgiven. If I Live, I will kill you." Such is the Rule of Honor." ~ Lamb of God Additionally, I've thought about something for a long time, which is that God does, in fact, allow violence in a few cases: Self-defense, defense of your family, defense of your loved ones. I say this for two reasons: One, Jesus Himself threw the money-changers out of the Temple, but did not actually commit homicide. Second, even in Luke, Jesus told the disciples, "Sell your cloak and buy a sword." This is important for a couple of reasons: First, if you had a sword within territory controlled by Rome, and you were not a Roman, it was a death sentence. Second, buying a sword meant you were going out into the world, where the dangers were unforeseen, therefore you had a weapon with which to protect yourself. Lastly, the Commandment in the Old Testament is not, "You shall not kill." This is a mistranslation. The proper translation is, "You shall not murder." And I say this because, if God said, "You shall not kill," how would the Israelites have made their personal sacrifices? They would not have been able to, if simple killing wasn't allowed -- because under the Old Law, the Torah, blood sacrifice was required to cover sin. Again, this is why protection of yourself, your family, and your property is, I believe, the only valid use of violence God would condone.

Itd probably be best to find the lyric video to it because these guys are Russian speaking full English but the singers accent can be a tad bit rough to make out with the way he vocalizes. If not the original audio release on KZbin has lyrics in the description for your personal understanding!

At the end that whisper from M shadows says “that’s all she wrote” implying that this whole song was from the POV of a woman seeking revenge, for me that’s what makes the song even heavier, at first the lyrics tells you in a very subtle way that is a woman who lost her family and she went rogue, for me that’s heavy man, you usually expect this western stories to be about cowboys n’ shit but this tell was about a girl who lost everything and decided to take revenge
