I think the lower than normal African American audience was due to the mistake of dusting Black Panther in Infinity War and the black characters being sidelined in Endgame, where they had hardly any screen time. This movie written and made before Black Panther was realised. So executives clear thought Ant-Man would be a bigger character than Black Panther so gave him a major instead of giving that role to Black Panther character that would have got a bigger black audience.

I think if they knew how popular Black Panther would have become, they wouldn't had dusted him and had him do so little because all scripts were done a year before the Black Panther came out.
