I definitely had fun watching the Stony moments in Endgame. I especially loved the moment where they were discussing a new plan with Scott not knowing what the hell they were talking about. That's the exact kind of interaction and dynamic I expect from Stony, it was great. Despite my misgivings about the ending of character arcs (goddamnit Steve what happened to moving on?!) I still had great fun with the movie. And I've been reading fix-it fics for days lmao

1) I think endgame was friendly not only to stony but to a lot of other ships as well, it even made way for ships that I have never though about but through seeing the characters interact on screen, it works. 2) I agree that endgame was shipping friendly because of what endgame represents. It is to be the end of the main story arc for all of the characters and the end of the avengers franchise, so it showed many interactions that people wanted or not. It is kind of like the biggest fan-service ever (which isn't a bad thing). 3) The contrary! Endgame made ships for me. It also made me ship already established ships that I wouldn't otherwise ship. 4) I enjoyed endgame a lot, I was satisfied with the ending and the deaths within felt justified. I wouldn't say endgame was my favorite but it is up there with the best of the best. while im not the biggest shipper of stony, i do think that they both had great chemistry

I've shipped stony since I got into marvel (Wasn't really into stucky) but civil war kinda dampened my spirits and at the time I had read all the nice avengers fics. Now though, I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into it. A big factor of what drove me away was also the split between the fandom due to civil war. Hopefully now though, that rift will close.

Oh god yes post Civil War Stony was so hard to read. It’s something I noticed but a majority of Stony fans seemed to be “team Iron Man” for Civil War, and oh boy did it show. I don’t like writers bashing either character, but in both Stony and IronDad/SpiderSon fics, it’s so hard not to find ridiculousness post Civil War that’s hard to read (oh “Steve tried to kill Tony.” Like what??? What movie did you watch???). I don’t like Tony bashing by Stucky writers either but it tends to not happen nearly as much as Steve bashing. I just want to love both Steve and Tony dangit. And yeah Endgame was a shipkiller but fuck it, we always have fics!

1. I consider myself a multishipper, but Tony/Steve is definitely one of my ride-or-die ships. I was exploring LJ back in 2006, desperately looking for Daredevil/Ironfist fanfics post-Civil War (sadly not much is out there. Seriously! Danny went to the Negative Zone for Matt! Why aren't there more fics? ahem* back to stony) and I found my first Stony fic. I'd always loved their friendship, but I hadn't considered them as a pairing before. Boy was my life changed! 2. Endgame didn't reignite my passion because it never went away :) But, it certainly made my heart happy. So much intense staring!! They didn't even have to talk to each other, their looks said enough. That being said, I've always had a bit of a preference for comic Stony more than MCU-Stony, so my interest in the pairing doesn't necessarily rise and fall with movieverse content. 3. The first time I saw Endgame, I had mixed feelings. But, I knew that some of my feelings came from my expectations not being met. When I saw it a second time, I loved it because I had let go of what I wanted to happen and was able to enjoy the movie for what it was. Still not 100% satisfied with Oldman Steve... 4. I don't think Endgame was a ship killer! I know there were a lot of characters and pairings who didn't get screen time, but I think that in itself is fuel for shipping. So many people are already writing missing scenes or fix-its and I think that shows how creative fans can be when they have negative space to work in! I completely understand that some fans need overt material in order to keep their ships afloat, so I can see how for some people the movie sank their pairing, but that makes me a little sad and I hope they can find a way to patch their boats.

Ahhh, Stony, the ship that launched my interest in Marvel comics... Nostalgia. 1. Endgame was pretty Stony friendly, imo. I definitely raised an eyebrow when Steve rushed to Tony's side in the beginning. And I found the scene of Tony confronting Steve about CW to be quite cathartic (I was firmly in camp Iron Man when I saw that movie, though. Steve came across very "screw everyone else I only care about Bucky! Casualties? What casualties? How dare you tell Captain America what to do D:

As a long time Stony shipper, ever since 2013... I'm so glad with endgame, it gave closure to two characters that I love so so so dearly, their closure was finally given, we had their fun banther again, some fanservice with the america's ass scene and I was glad to just see them interacting in good terms again... the do you trust me scene KILLED me just as much as hurt Tony on the start of the film calling Steve a liar, although i was dissatisfacted with Steve's ending (albeit for not shipping reasons) i don't think endgame was a ship killer, much on the contrary, i never expect my favourite pairings to be canonical, interactions are enough. I loved endgame, as a marvel fan ever since the first movie ever... this was everything I could ever ask for.

I feel like the Stony relationship across the films just wasn't handled well: First you had all the passive aggressive side-eyeing in Avengers and that was Great. Fantastic. 10/10 good banter would recommend. They put their differences aside to save New York. But you get the feeling it's a temporary alliance in desperate times. Their differences aren't really reconciled with. Then you have Age of Ultron and they basically started from square one. You get the impression they went to, like, two team meetings after getting shawarmas and BAM now we're raiding Sokovia. Still passive aggressive, still kinda weary of each other. Then ooooooh boy Civil War. The implication here is they somehow became fast friends offscreen and them falling out is this heart breaking thing, as opposed to something anyone could have seen coming from a mile away. (This and at this point I think Marvel wasn't sure whether to focus on Stony or Stucky and just split the movie between them and I have to say, it's messy) Infinity War did jackshit for either Stucky or Stony, but you know what, I liked it. Infinity War 2: Electric Boogaloo on the other hand was all Stony and it is the only time I felt this relationship got proper development from its conception. Looking back, it could very easily have felt like whiplash, seeing them go from passive aggressive arguing to bicker like an old married couple, but it works and to me, I think it's all circumstantial. They worked best in Avengers with New York crashing down against them as teammates, co-leaders even. And now as the entire world reels from The Snap, there's not time to talk about signing accords and fundamental difference because there's a planet to save so they naturally pick up the co-leader roles again. The ground work for a friendship has always been there and Endgame gave us a hint of what could be. Given time, some communication, this team dynamic could have really worked (see post avengers domestic AUs but with more developed characters) but alas, Marvel wanted conflict, so they held out all the way to Civil War with the same relationship as the beginning and I think that's a damn shame.

Let's get the facts straight, the only ship Endgame likes is pepperony so unless you're on that bandwagon this movie practically turns any hopes of seeing any kind of interaction of your ship into dust. #Buckydeservedbetter
@alicelidell41145 жыл бұрын
No, the hopes were definitely fullfilled, there were so many interactions. There's more to it than the ending/the circumstances (e.g. Morgan). The only thing we can probably all agree on is that the onscreen romance is never queer with Marvel, but people pick their little glances and weigh them however they want so in most regards, A4 was very shipper friendly.

(i do have to believe the russo's version of steve's ending though, because the writers' just gives me a lot of questions, like how did he get a new shield, etc. it makes less sense to me personally).

I was so much in the domestic avengers and team is family side of things that that line never seemed out of place. Now I can't help but see the disconnect between fandom and cannon. I don't find the Stony content sudden. I think the movies have actually reminded us constantly how much these two mean to each other despite the conflict between them that comes up frequently as well. I actually think Age of Ultron, Civil War, and Infinity War gave us scenes that reinforced how much these two meant to each other, genuine emotional moments, but it's so easy to overlook because the MCU had an obsession with the Steve/Tony ideological conflict. They wanted Civil War and Age of Ultron (as well as Avengers) to highlight that while Steve and Tony are both selflessly devoted to protecting the world, they have very different viewpoints on how best to accomplish that- you know, for the conflict and drama. That said, I think the final scenes in Age of Ultron really try to show us that Steve and Tony have gotten close- Steve's saying he'll miss Tony, Tony worrying if he's okay, Steve confessing something very personal, etc. followed by Natasha making a joke that Steve and Tony stare into each other's eyes. Civil War has Tony telling only Steve about his relationship issues with Pepper and Steve getting excited when he thinks Pepper is pregnant. Infinity War shows that Tony always carries the phone Steve gave him and Steve calls Tony "Earth's best defender" and only arrives to fight once he's out of commission; without even sharing a scene, they reestablish how much Tony and Steve rely on each other- something reinforced in Endgame. There's also multiple scenes where Tony and Steve see through each other from Tony calling Steve out on "wishing he could look the other way when he sees a situation pointed south" or Steve immediately knowing that Tony was quiet during the initial Sokovia Accords debate because he'd already decided. Moments like that reinforce that these two know each other really well and have spent a lot of time together. Also, multiple times across the movies, Tony and Steve value each other's opinions more heavily than other teammates' and also are inspired to change as a direct result of each other, which is another way it's illustrated they hold each other in high regard. Steve credits Tony in Endgame as the reason he goes back to get a life with Peggy and Tony said to him all the way back in Age of Ultron that Steve would "get there one day". The fact that these two change and question things as a direct result of each other is another way we're reminded of the influence they have on one another and the esteem they hold for each other. My opinion is not that the movies failed to give us the friendship, it's that because of the limitations of film (as opposed to comics), a lot of the friendship is implied or shown in moments that get eclipsed by the drama moments. Because which is more memorable, Steve and Tony joking with Thor and then talking about how they'll miss each other or Steve and Tony arguing multiple times in Age of Ultron?

Endgame was definitely hella Sony friendly, and I for one, having been a Stony shipper since 2o19 was happy for as it was what I wanted/needed. Stucky never managed to appeal to me, and I tried really hard when everyone was into it. Part of it was just that the dynamic wasn't what I look for in ships, and the other part was that it was way too popular and that put me off. What happened with Steve is still somewhat confusing for me, but I guess it made some amount of sense. What happened with Tony was not what I wanted, but it was what i expected, and I think it was handled very well, better than Steve's ending. I'd love to read some fix-its tho, Stony has to happen in some universe. :D

Endgame didn't need to reignite my Stony passions, because I never left this ship. 😉 It is my top Marvel OTP (and perhaps my overall ever OTP). All the more I enjoyed all the Stony moments in the movie and I'm extremely happy that Endgame gave us so much of them. Their early reunion and their interactions afterwards compensated me for the complete lack of Stony in Infinity War. I guess that Endgame was quite shipping friendly, especially to Stony but to other ships as well. There is definitely fan-service in the movie but I don't think that's a bad thing. 😉 In general, Endgame broke my heart ... but in a good way. I loved the movie because it was everything to me that IW was not. I mainly hoped for a SteveTony reunion and for interactions between the Original Six - and I got it. The deaths hurt like hell but imo they were neither pointless nor enforced as an end in itself. I also loved the roles of Nebula, Antman and Rocket, all characters who I like very much and who had beautiful scenes. I'm sad, that it's over (at least concerning the Original Six) and I feel strangely left-behind. But I have 22 movies I can always go back to, many fluffy Domestic Avengers fan fictions and, of course, Stony. 💙❤ And after all, you know: "Dont cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

I used to be a stony shipper way back during the first avengers and the domestic avengers time.... but then Idk, I just kind of grew away from it, but I still enjoyed the content. Civil war kind of broke stony for me and then I kind of went my separate ways from it towards more Stucky and Ironstrange, I liked civil war but it just kind of broke stony for me and it sucked how the fandom got really toxic around that time period, splitting us into teams, and some people still haven't left the teams. But I'm glad stony got content in endgame, I still enjoy the ship it just isn't my top or my otp but who knows, maybe that could change considering in endgame I got less content for some of my bigger ships like ironstrange and stucky and more content for my older ships like stony and clintasha. I'm a multishipper tho, and a lot of my shipping is fanon and some comic based so I don't need much canon to keep the ships going. Stony has some pretty good stuff tho, maybe I will go back and check some more of that out, haven't really checked that stuff out for a while and I think I will go back to it.... and YOU BET those scenes definitely sparked my interest! I was watching it with my friend and we just turned to each other so many times and went "Stony is getting SO much content that it hasn't gotten for years! The stony crops are watering" our mouths were HANGING OPEN at the Americas ass part endgame was just like stony fan service tbh

I thought it was good to get some closure after civil war, even if it can’t have been worked through as completely as I might like, what with everything else going on. The “i trust you” moment was perfect for me

Numbered list, because I know that's the shit you like: 1. I've appreciated and admired almost all MCU ships from afar, never truly invested. The closest I came was Clintasha in Avengers 2012 and Thorki post Ragnarok. It was more of an inkling and mild fondness, never truly shipped. I had a mild leaning towards Stony, like you said, because of some out of context panels I had seen from the comics. I thought it was a cute pair, but never shipped it myself. Until Endgame. Damn. Endgame made me a Stony shipper. Seeing all the story threads coming together for them made my heart happy. It was wonderful and amazing in a platonic light and also could be an igniting point for something more. 2. Yes, Endgame was everything I wanted. No- it's more accurate to say everything I didn't know I wanted. I had kept a blank state of my mind as the movie approached, too busy with Thanus memes to look into any legitimate theories. I found myself extremely satisfied with the film. I didn't expect the barrage of payoff to the totality of the MCU. Also, Wanda vs Thanos. I was hollering "YES BITCH!" at the screen. I hope the people next to me weren't too irritated. 3. At first z I thought the term ship-killer for Endgame was overkill, but now that I think about it.... It really is the penultimate MCU ship-killer. Stucky? Dead (in canon) Stony? Dead (in canon) Clintasha? Dead (in canon) Thorki? Dead (in canon) Brutasha? Dead (in canon) WandaVision? Dead (in canon) Many ships fell that day.

There’s still so many Stony stuff in Pinterest. Especially when Tony becomes Natasha Stark and Steve is still Steve. It’s a pretty cute ship and I like it. I wish there’s more comic from that Alternate Universe and not just a panel. Stony genderbent where Tony is Natasha is like a dominatrix businesswoman to a submissive secretary type of love.

You should've seen me shipping stony in the theatre. Endgame is basically a huge STONY movie

1. I did feel that Endgame was Stony friendly. I enjoyed seeing Steve and Tony together and making jokes with each other (America’s Ass) and I kind of wish that we had actually gotten to explore the 5-year gap in real time, just so that I could see the two interacting more. 2. Yes! Endgame literally killed three of my favorite ships. I lost Romanogers when Natasha jumped off that cliff. I have been shipping them since The Avengers and thought Steve was going to build a life in the future with her (Though I did cry tears of joy when Steve got his dance with Peggy. I have a soft spot for Steggy) I lost Stucky. My second fav ship because it felt like Steve and Bucky didn’t get to interact much in the film with Bucky being dead for half of it and was very upset that Bucky wasn’t given the shield. I lost FrostIron, even though I never actually believed it would happen. I still hoped to see Tony and Loki interacting more. I thought Loki was going to be key in the movie once he stole the tesseract. I was expecting Tony to go after him and get some witty banter. Was a bit disappointed. 3. I loved Endgame from start to finish. It was not the conclusion that I wanted for all the characters. Steve and Tony’s journeys were perfect, and I felt satisfied. I did not want Black Widow to die. I was expecting, on the off chance that she didn’t end up with Steve, that Natasha would be there for Bucky in the Endgame aftermath. I wanted to see her helping him adjust to life without Steve and helping him become Captain America. I also didn’t like Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. I like him and Rocket together, but Thor is meant to be a King in my eyes, and I wanted to see him lead his people again with a new sense of purpose. 4. Note: Hoping to see Peter take on a big brother type role for Morgan going forward. I’m hoping to see Spiderman keep up with Pepper and Morgon, not just Happy. 5. Also, disappointed that Spiderman, Mantis, Antman, and Black Widow won’t get a chance to form a bug themed team. Spiderman, Mantia, and Antman can still do it, but I really wanted Black Widow to lead the team. 6. And where is Black Panther’s girlfriend? I haven’t seen her in a while. Did they break up now that Disney has the rights to X-men so that T’challa can end up with Storm?

I only started shipping Stony since Endgame (although I low-key shipped them in Civil War). I never shipped Stucky. But I ship IronStrange since Infinity War (Endgame needed more Ironstrange...)

Endgame made me finally understand Stony. I went from thinking it was really weird to really enjoying the idea and playing with it in fics! : D EDIT: Sometimes I feel like I just need one kind and genuine moment between two characters, maybe not in canon but sometimes in fan works or art, to make me finally "get it". Like, yeah, they would be good for each other.

1. Endgame definitely wasn't a ship killer for me. I'm still struggling to process the movie and form an opinion on it. But I can say that I hate to see stories end and characters that I care about die! 2. It finally gave me some sort of closure on Steve's and Tony's issues, although I still feel like these two would have needed to talk it out a little more, with Steve at least apologizing! 3. I'm a big Stony shipper and it has been a very important otp to me. I was pleasantly surprised by all the moments they shared and the chemistry they had. Needless to say I fangirled so hard during the movie! Endgame motivated me to read fanfics about them again since there should be so many new ones out now. It also got me excited about cosplaying them again :) 4. Great video, thank you so much for this update!

My love for Stony never truly left, though I usually stick to fics that came around before Civil War, the ones after it are always so heavy because of all the baggage they have to deal with. I much prefer the Domestic Avengers era of fics. Regarding Endgame in particular, I appreciate that we had at least some form of closure with these two, 'cause I had lost hope by the time this one came around. I do hope the movie inspires people to create more Superfamily works, I genuinely miss them!

Endgame definitely killed my main ships. Captain America/Phil Coulson and Bucky Barnes/Tony Stark. Then again, I never expected anything canon to come of my favorite ships. At this point I never expect canon to even give me more than shippable moments for any ship. We just don't get LGBTQ+ main characters in stuff like the MCU. It's sad, but that's why I'm such a fanfic lover. It gives us something that we never get on the big screen.

As I mentioned on your other video I don't ship stony so I wasn't going in expecting to ship it from End Game. But once the opening happened and Tony was done yelling at Steve and came back to help with the time travel idea I was like 'oh there's Stony here'. And I was kind of on board for it. Particularly after the ass comment, which I love that Ant-Man is ride or die for Steve still. As for ships, I was upset that Steve and Bucky didn't have a lot of time together but I take what I can get, same for thorki. I was happy to see Clint and Nat back together because I've been waiting since Avengers for that but we all know how that turned out. I happy that ThorQuill could happen, so I'm looking forward to that.

I've been shipping Stony since Avengers 1 so it's going on 7 years now. Endgame wasn't perfect but it gave me enough Stony that I'm happy. Would I change things in Endgame of course but at the end of the day it's what the russos wanted to do with the characters. Now it's time for fix it fics.

Thank you for this! My best friend (who saw it with me) doesn’t get these ships, especially this one. And during ALL of Endgame, I wouldn’t stop whispering to my best friend, They’re going to kiss The Sexual Tension is High They’ve been divorced since Civil War and there tension I wouldn’t stop and she got so annoyed. I’m so glad I’m the only who noticed that and thank you for making a vid for this. It’s amazing and well created video. 👌🥰😊

For me, the canons like MCU get sort of merged with fanon. I mean, I can and do talk about them separately but also I let fanon and my own wants fill in the gaps. So where were all the Avengers living after the Battle of New York? Stark Tower of course and Thor and Clint argued about dishes, Phil was fine and hung out there (which his boyfriend Clint. Phlint forever!), and Stony blossomed into a beautiful relationship. I guess I really just have my own multiverse. I try not to take the canon too seriously when it comes to my ships and fandoms because the canon does often mess with what I want to see or how I view the characters. This might not work for some people but for me, the characters take on a life of their own in my head, different canons and headcanons from fandom get mixed in to make a character I really identify with. Everything can exist together in my view and you can mix all the mediums together to make a really fun universe to explore. But honestly, they can pull Stony from my cold, dead hands. I've been here since 2012 and I will not let it go.
