Here's the deal, according to Russos and Fiege, they failed because they were separated. BUT, they are not 'separated' in this movie, the teams are working in UNISON to achieve a common goal. (Yes, physically separated, but united in ultimate 'mission').

My theory is: 8 avengers go after 2 stones back in time through quantum realm, 4 go for space stone, 4 go for mind stone ( just guessing). And 3 others, Thor, Carol, and Bruce, go to distract thanos so he can’t go after the quantum people while stones are disappearing from his gauntlet 😁 fingers crossed for the Thor carol and Bruce team up 🤞🏾

4:47 You say the hand on the bottom of the shot could be war machine but I don’t think so. I think the arm is way too small for the size of the war machine suit. I think the suit with the mechanical part could be Cap, and the mechanical part could be a special design on the suit to allow his shield (because he definitely will have one in this movie) to go into his arm. So that means the big arm on the left is Rhodey in the war machine suit.
