Avengers vs X Men: VS Vol 1 Issue 1.
▸ During the battle on Utopia, Iron Man gains the upper hand in a destructive fight with Magneto by siphoning magnetic energy all the way from Jupiter. Magneto attempts to counter this move by pulling in other interstellar objects and as a result senses the destructive force of the coming Phoenix. After Magneto tells this to him, Iron Man then stops the fight in favor of helping others in their search for Hope. As he is leaving the scene, Magneto tells him to find his daughter, Scarlet Witch.

I actually have that cartoon on VHS. I was utterly shocked how Magneto surrendered and effectively stated he was useless without his powers. Yet, the police arrive with their metal vehicles and gun. Mr. Fantastic explained he had a wooden gun and tricked Magneto. Logically Magneto still had his magnetic powers, but still surrendered to the police and took him away, like he no longer had his powers.@@ForeveraBoss117

I mean that is why the two make for a good fight with one another as its not really about how is the more powerful in the situation but rather his the most creative with their given abilities. Iron Man is a genius who create tech that exceeds beyond human capabilities and is able to build MULTIPLE super powered armors for just about any occasions or countermeasures because he is that prepared. Meanwhile Magneto is considered a powerful mutant with the way he trained and honed in own his mutant abilities to so more than just manipulating metal around him (which gives him a sort of power lottery for whatever his needs).

I think what was amazing and proof of Mag's Omega Levelness.. Was during the fight, after Tony siphoned from Jupiter, Mags starts musing on how he's Siphoning magnetic power from other Planets.. And the thing that distracted him was one of those planets dying.. Just.. Good lord if Mags can do that level of insanty with his powers.. he could throw whole Solar Systems into chaos.. Forget just destroying Earth! His only weakness then comes down to that he still needs to Breath, Eat, and Sleep.. IE He's still Human..

Magneto is one of those mutants where, if you really stop to think about his power, he's damn near unstoppable, so it kinda puts the writers into a corner. Compare Magneto to the stand Metallica from JJBA. Risotto is the Mafia's best assassin because he can manipulate electromagnetism to form things out of the iron in your blood, such as him forming a pair of scissors in Dopio's neck. I'm sure Magneto could do the same and that's just one weak example. He could manipulate light etc. Very OP mutant power for sure.

While I do generally love seeing arbitrary "X vs. Y" fights like Magneto vs. Iron Man, the Xmen vs. Avengers and related stories always remind me of maybe the biggest annoyance I have in comic book stories, when the plot essentially hinges on two groups or a few individuals just not talking to each other in anything resembling a rational manner. Yeah, I get it, these are super-powered people who rightfully think they can use their abilities to make any problem or opposition go their way, but when the plot entirely hinges on them being man-children, it often takes me out of it. I guess I'm just saying those are my least favorite sorts of stories.

These books are and always have been written for 12 year old boys (and their equivalent adult man children who actually buy them these days). There’s no widespread market of tweens or adults who will buy series of books of super powered people “talking it out.” The industry is built on pew pew pow. An intellectual debate might be good for a few issues or character piece. But when these characters can shoot lasers out of their eye balls, they’ll never be able to sustain sales by NOT letting them fight. But I agree with you, I would’ve hoped the comics industry might grow up with its audience. Not sure they or the audience have grown up.

The whole magneto satellite suit was kinda silly to me. Would have been better for the fight if magneto absorbed the powers of Jupiter that stark was channeling to enhance his own magnetic power. Writers normally does magneto like surfer , which is they have so many other feats that they can do but only show them doing the basics. In this battle he could have shut Iron man suit down by manipulating the electrical currency in his suit.

I knew I couldn't be the only one that felt like this. The writing for AvX was Piss Poor! Thing beating Namor underwater alone is enough to throw the whole event out, but Iron Man beats Magneto solo when he's an X-Men-level threat to himself. Colossus as the juggernaut somehow not dragging Thing or Red Hulk. Cyclops vs Cap and Scott suddenly loses all tactical acumen and just shoots a basic beam straight at Caps Shield until he walks him down and shield bashes him lol. Gambit blows up the chest of Caps' armor then gets walked down, and that's after Cap knocks out Warpath lol. It was just bad on bad on bad

I'm sorry to say, but the simple fact that Magneto doesn't easily clap Tony in this fight is clear indication the writers either didn't do their homework or just don't care to use the abilities their characters have been shown and known to have. Magneto is not an equal fight for Tony at all, under almost any circumstances. He would have to possess effectively *every* advantage possible to even stand a chance against Magneto. This isn't me hating on Tony Stark. This is just me knowing how much more *ludicrous* Magneto's abilities are. The man earns that Omega Level many times over. I think if Magneto had the mind to do it, he would kill Tony. Lets be real, the things you can do with magnetic fields affect people fundamentally. He could use the magnetic fields around him and concentrate them on Tony until his head started bleeding inside out. if he put enough power into that field around Tony, Tony's body would start arcing with electricity or it could interfere with the power generator for his suit. Have they ever done that in a story?

In the movies, Iron Man made his primary armor of titanium and gold. Neither of which is affected by magnetism like ferrous metals. Titanium and gold have virtually zero magnetic properties. They do carry electrical current very well though.

Ice, because it is solid, can hold more minerals than liquid water. So if the ice has a high concentration of magnetic minerals, say like IRON, he can control the iron in the ice and through the iron control the ice. Just like he can influence the small amount of iron in red blood cells. Pure water, H2O, would be devoid of minerals and not affected by magnetism at all. The three elemental metals that are naturally ferromagnetic are iron, cobalt, and nickel. Magneto power was interrupted by phoenix destroying a planet he was pulling energy from, so that’s why at the end he felt her and not iron man. If the writers wasn’t trying to sell an avengers movie , Magneto would win.

Okay so Iron Man didn't actually win the fight, Magneto just stopped fighting because he felt an entire planet vanish in the depths of space. That is a valid ending. If this had continued, I see no world in which Iron Man isn't killed. But Magneto explicitly stopped fighting rather than being beaten. *That* is an actual possible result of this fight. Magneto is trying not to kill Tony, progressively goes bigger and bigger to fight back against him, and then stops when something more important comes up. It's very clear here that Magneto wasn't trying to kill Tony. If he was, things would have ended much sooner and much differently. The fight would have ended right after Iron Man's little internal monologue about how 'if you thought this fight would already be over, you never met me' with him being literally shredded from the inside-out by the iron in his blood.

Magneto would crush Iron Man. Magneto survived getting his heart ripped out by Ouranos. There's no way IronMan's EVER beating Magneto. Plus Magneto is Omega tier. He should be able to control the gravity of planets so Iron Man's planetary gravity chaneling trick wouldnt be advantageous.

Electromagnetic force is one of the 4 main forces in the universe. In magnetisam the same polar things deflect of each other, and different polar things atract each other. Ironman can change the polarity of his repulser blasts to go through Magnetos shiels, then again Magnito can change the polarity of his shields at will. Magneto can use magnetic elements around then to attack Ironman since his armour is not magnetic ... it all depends on can Tony Stark think of countermeasures for that and knowing him, he can ... this is an interesting fight.

The massive aneurysm that Magneto could inflict on Stark would render his money and vaunted intellect pointless. The writers have completely lost the plot when it comes to Ironman, from going toe to toe with the Hulk to taking on the bloody Celestials it's become a parody of the comics we grew up with.

Also, Ironman whole thing is that he plans and builds Suits for problem, Magento is a problem for Ironman (and anyone) Magneto can cuase strokes and blood attacks, Storm also do that with electric storms inside people brains and Jean can telekinetically stop blood flowing but they don't always do that Why? Because if you make a character to powerful, and have 0 issues with instant murdering any and everyone they fight as fast as possible.... The story and character gets really boring, really fast ... Magento could also just release a planet wide EDM, Drop an asteriod or space station on Ironman, etc. Assume Ironman suit has suppression for that ok

Magnetos biggest ace up his sleeve or Super OP card is that he can use the Iron normally naturally found in a persons body, clump them all up together to make a tiny nail and zig zag it thoughout the body. he used that once but i guess they nerf that to avoid him being too OP.

Thing about fights in Marvel and DC is that it all depends on how ready one is for the other. If Mganeto and Iron Man were to fight without preparing to do so, Magneto would beat Iron Man, same if Magneto was to go after Iron Man, however by Iron Man preparing to fight Magneto the chances were in Iron Man's favor.
