Love this bike. I have over 1000 miles on my standard Aventon Aventure. I'm 6'3, 215lbs. This ride is much more comfortable than my Aventon Level (1300 miles) due to the fat tire's lover PSI. No need for seat suspension. I live in a very hilly area near San Francisco. Speed and torque up hills is very good where my Level would over-heat and stop. I've gone 35 miles on a charge mostly in PAS 2-3. 4-5 PAS will drain battery quicker. Added handle-bar risers, back rack, bag, and Tannus Fat Tire inserts.

The one complaint is the screen. With polarized sun glasses impossible to read. The Level screen was much better with the black letters over white background. Battery indicators should be given bigger font and a higher visual priority.

I'm an active 68 year old male, 5'7" and embarrisingly 214 lbs. I would really hate to go with a small frame. As I currently own a 2021 Trek Verve Plus 2 Step Thru ebike Medium 17.5 Frame. My question is would the M-L Frame be to big for me ? I'm afraid if I purchased the small frame I would dislike it. ALL FEEDBACKS WELCOME !

I'd like to see Aventon eliminate derailleur gear shifting and go to an internal hub transmision or at least make it an option.
@EbikeEscape
@EbikeEscape 2 жыл бұрын
In order to do that they have to go to a Mid-Drive motor. So will be very interesting to see if they do that. In the mean time check out Vvolt. They make 2 bikes with Mid-Drives and internally geared hubs. -JT

Thank you very much for the video, great job! I ordered the same red step through bike you reviewed a week and a half ago, but it hasn’t arrived yet. I also ordered the front factory rack, but chose to order an aftermarket rear rack because it has a lot more options. The bag slides on and off the rack and snaps into place very easily. It also has a couple of fold down pouches if you need extra room.

@RegisteredMail1
@RegisteredMail1 2 жыл бұрын
@@bernievassallo3336 I'm enjoying the Aventure very much! The weight doesn't bother me because it's fairly easy to load it on my Hollywood carrier. The throttle is the only thing I wish was different. I have had motorcycles all my life and can't get used to using a thumb throttle on the left side. Actually, I wish it was a regular twist grip on the right side. The only other issue I have with it is the pulling power going up hills. My Segway X-2 would take me up the steepest hill around without a problem, but the Aventure is not nearly as strong, and it won't make it to the top of our steepest hill before giving up.

Hmmm... Is it a good idea for a step through design with a battery mounted in a hollowed out frame? Can't help being skeptical that an aluminum frame will be strong enough to support all the gross weight of fully loaded bike with a "battery hollowed out half box downtube" mount - especially a few years after regular use.

Great video! Definitely swayed us getting this bike. Just bought the Aventure bike a few days ago and absolutely love it. I do have to ask...we live on asphalt and dirt roads with wash board terrain. It felt like I was on a jack hammer when going over bumps. Would changing out the suspension seat post help or changing fork preload or just simply changing the the seat make for a better ride? Any suggestions??
@EbikeEscape

It sounds like your front fork might be locked out or it might need the preload turned down. It shouldn't feel that rough. But if that doesn't add and comfort, a suspension seat post is the next thing we recommend. -JT

You won’t need any dealer for after sale service, bc if it fails, just take it back to Best Buy. No questions asked. Too bad they didn't have a rare house on the southside of Indianapolis Indiana where they can make these bikes of your choice of different color paint and put it all together right there where you can buy it right on the spot it might take a couple days to get it fixed but hey it be worth it and that way when you buy it it's all ready to go and you don't have to worry about getting it shipped off to your place where you live at and you have variety of different colors to choose the paint if you have a choice of better Improvement on brake lights in the back what the left and the right turn signal plus a pill in the alarm to that then people won't know it's a lot on there they'll think it's just a brake light and a tracking device inside so when the police track your bike down because it got stolen by someone else hey that be great ideal to hey it's just a thought that counts and that's my peanut but people should you that way they can pick their own colors and don't have the bike rack on the back but I want to step through one and I'm just giving these companies big I do really could do it all in one company of their own like paint job batteries and put the frame together and go from there and if you have a choice between thumb throttle or twister shifter that way it'd be up to the customer different color choices of paint job that would also be excellent I'm just giving you advice so you can pass it on to the bike companies that makes easy electric e-bikes and don't forget a mirror that's all have a blessed day

Just had one of these in for repairs on the brake system. I was really surprised to only see two piston brakes with 180mm rotors on this really heavy bike. In my opinion the brake system is very under-powered. It is also difficult to upgrade given that any replacement brake system needs to have the brake sensor electrical leads on them. Aventon does not sell the master cylinders on there web store and I have found them difficult to source. It would be better to have four piston brakes and 200mm/180mm rotors installed from Aventon.

@omshivashankara 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonpeterson4085 Depending on the gear that I'm in I find that there can be a slight delay from a complete stop. This tends to happen in a high gear and it makes sense because your pedals are moving at a very slow rate and the computer must not recognize the pedaling for a moment. Lower gears have a faster rate of spin and tend to initiate the motor immediately. I was really concerned about these issues while I was doing research but now that I have the bike, it's not a concern at all.

@@kellyt5341 What type of riding do you see yourself doing? Aside from having shops nearby that can service your bike, what are your rides like? For me, I do both paved and trail, and I find that the 750W Bafang motor is more than enough. I weigh 250, and I mostly ride at PAS 2 or below. I just did a 23 mile ride over the weekend and did not go above PAS 2, and still had 75% battery left. That’s important for me, bc on an even longer ride, I feel certain I’ll have enough juice left to kick it up to PAS 3 or higher if I need to. All that said, I don’t know enough about the Kepler, I had looked at Radrover when I was looking, and glad I still went for the Aventure. What draws me to Aventon bikes is their weight limit. I'm a heavier rider (300 lbs) and by exploring their website, I was glad to find out that their weight capacity was 400 lbs and that my weight won't be an issue if I decide to buy an Aventon. I'm also considering a Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 2 because its weight capacity is also 400 lbs. The differences between the two aside from the price is that the Aventon is a hub drive as opposed to the mid drive Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 2. I would have preferred a step over bike, but since the large sized Aventon Aventure step bikes are sold out, I might settle for a step thru as the electric red color looks nice on the step thru bikes.

Greetings from Australia. With regards to the Aventon Aventure, if you were to purchase one, which would you opt for and why. Would you purchase the step-through model or the step-over model. I’d really value your opinion because I am considering purchasing an Aventure.

@specialist-in-tech
@specialist-in-tech 2 жыл бұрын
Yep aventons customer service sucks bad. That’s why their dealers are abandoning them in droves. So now aventon has to peddle their crap thru lowly Best Buy. Your brakes will squeal. Your spokes will break. Your tires will blow out. Your controllers will get all kinds of errors. Your batteries will get stuck and be unremovable on pace models. or if it’s the Aventure, your battery will fall out while you are riding.

Would you recommend any Chinese ebikes as good alternatives to the Aventon Adventure, as they don't have that model in Europe? And, would you have preferred 21 gears to the 7 that comes with the Aventure?
@EbikeEscape
@EbikeEscape Жыл бұрын
When you have a motor the need for the "perfect" gear is not as important as the motor fills in the gaps. So the 7 speed is perfect. I think maybe another gear or two would be great, but 21 would be way to many. We are not as familiar with the ebikes being offered in the EU market. Himiway or Velotric Nomad?

@@EbikeEscape Yeah, the thing was that I was going to send my brand new Shengmilo back, because the display stopped working 10 days after I got it, but I think that I might keep it and try to put it all on myself. I was already shopping for another ebike online, since prices are so crazy at local shops. I was just bummed out about not having pas or throttle until I replace it myself.

Hi Ryan! Thank you for the great channel and content!! I'm torn between buying the Aventon Adventure and the RipCurrent S. Likely I'd be happy with either choice, but for only $500 more (only : ) the RipCurrent has a lot more range and the torque sensing. (I'm sure that everyone has their preference and perspective on cadence and torque.) If the two bikes were priced the same what would you recommend?
@EbikeEscape
@EbikeEscape 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the RipCurrent. I too believe you can't go wrong either way. If you value the range then I think the RipCurrent is probably the way to go. I'd like to feel the torque sensing for myself. I do think the Aventure has some pros as well with the color LCD, and integrated battery. It's overall a more clean looking ebike. Appreciate it if you use our links with whichever one you decide on. (And let me know what you go with and how you like it!)

The fat tire is designed strictly for off-road. the asphalt/concrete will wear out the fat tire very fast and you'll be out of $300 bucks to replace them. get the Aventon Commuter bike the road, basically the exact same bike designed for road usage. the Commuter bike has more color options and only 2 sizes - large/medium and Medium/small

I agree if you plan on riding predominately on the road but still that hasn't stopped many people who just seem to love fat tire ebikes. The Aventon tires definitely have more tread on them for off-road riding than many of the other fat tire ebikes I've reviewed.

I love mine but it arrived with bent rear fender rods and I have been waiting over a month for replacements. Also, for the price, an adjustable handlebar height would be nice. I added it for $16. Power is great, but a torque sensor rather than a cadence sensor would have been so much better. Its quite a powerful motor when you start peddling, so when your with someone else, you have to start and stop peddling often to stay with them. Its not very natural. Maybe you don't notice this when riding alone. Maybe add a test where you ride with someone else going, say 12mph, and see how easy it is. It's not so easy with this bike. One other thing, my brakes are very scratchy when stopping. So I think its 95% there, but with a bit more fine tuning, it could be a better eBike.

I think e-bikes have a great future. But at the moment all of these bikes are basically just cheap junk if you plan on actually using your bike much. The reason they are so heavy it's not because quality it's just the opposite. Lighter quality frames and components simply cost more and last longer. Now I understand that these offerings are not geared toward actual cyclists. Take the motor and battery off of this bike and you're basically looking at about a $400- $500 pedal bike. But with a bike that is still way too heavy, and geared too high to effectively pedal over any type of terrain. There is a reason why quality standard bicycles easily run into thousands of dollars. But then again depends on how you're going to use these bikes. If you plan on putting thousands of miles year with these I'm afraid you're in for a rude awakening.
