This reminds me of 'Star Trek's' Enterprise-D which can be separated into saucer and stardrive sections in the event the ship's facing a grave danger and its civilian and nonessential crew needs to be evacuated. Trouble is, nothing good ever happenned whenever the-D's saucer is separated from its stardrive.

Since it got canceled heres my personal ending idea The humans on the ship remembered the space ship was made from lithium do they just got as much as they can without any major damages formed it to a ball and the people from earth saved them but thats to easy so instead its a none sense side quest of our multiple protagonist of going out to space to get the fragments and getting to stupid situations
