I was slightly confused on why the rate at which N2O5 is consumed is equal to the rate of oxygen and NO being formed and why you used the reciprocal too. In addition, I was wondering if we are also supposed to use the reciprocal coefficient if there is one ( I know though in this case the coefficient was 1 but I wanted to know what would happened if lets say it was 2 or something else. )I also wanted to double check that the reason why you have added a minus sign is to make the negative rate of N2O5 positive. Is that correct?
@OldSchoolChemistry4 ай бұрын
Yes, to your last question. If the coefficient is 2 then you put a 1/2 in front of the rate. I hope that helps. Thanks Camila!

What are the assumptions about the way these reactant are in contact with each other?
@OldSchoolChemistry8 ай бұрын
Hi Yosef, it is assumed the reactants follow the collision theory. I hope that helps. Thanks:)

how did you get the 1/2 ( half) for oxygen when you were balancing the equation?
@OldSchoolChemistry2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ayanda, There are 5 oxygens on the reactants side and 2NO2 had 4 oxygens on the product side. 1/2 times O2 gives 1 oxygen. So 4 oxygens + 1 oxygen on the product side equals 5 oxygens total on the product side to balance the reaction. I hope that helps! Thanks:) Please subscribe if have not already!
