My first Avi concert, and he is even more amazing live! This video doesn’t do the performance justice at all. Sorry for the terrible filming…I had to hide the camera. 😅

I'm amazed you were able to get away with it at that venue. When Avi played there back in 2019, the venue had employees walking around through the whole show looking for people trying to record. I put my iPhone face down on my lap and recorded the whole concert audio (which actually turned out nicely). I'm glad I did, because it was a great show, especially "Get Down".

@@charlottevan_8 We were expecting not being able to record or take photos but then someone asked and we were told just no flash. Sabine and I were doing video of Born in CA and the manager told us it was distracting others but we could take pics. I REALLY wish I could’ve gotten “Get Down” bc it was FIRE!!! The last three songs I just turned on the camera and held it against myself so it wouldn’t distract anyone. 😊

Those bass notes he hit after the first verse literally shook me - I wasn’t expecting it and didn’t realize it was him at first! 😂 The ending was very similar, and he was dancing like I haven’t seen in a while, so I’m really hoping someone else happened to get video.

I believe his father is Jewish, but not his mom. They grew up celebrating both, and sung carols, there is a video from when he was in high school. He actually arranged several of the Christmas arrangement during his days with PTX.

A few years ago, his brother Joshua shared a video of the family sitting around their parents on Christmas singing this. Avi was playing and Joshua, Esther and their mom were harmonizing. The family seems to lean much more toward Messiah. People are not aware, but the U.S. has tens of millions of Hebrews who believe in Yehoshua/Jesus. Masses of us do not call ourselves Jews but we are of the tribes and were raised Christian. Avi once said his first concert was to a DC Talk concert. They are a Christian band. I am of the tribes of Judah and Levi and I was raised in Christianity. My father was actually a Baptist preacher. Avi once said the only Jewish training he was for his bar Mitzva, and later he would like to learn more about it. According to his surname, he could probably be of the tribe of Levi. The priestly tribe.

My sentiments exactly. I first heard Avi on an NPR very early Sunday morning interview last June, 2022. I had earphones in so as not to wake my husband. When the first clip of one of his songs came on during the conversation, I bolted upright in utter disbelief what I was hearing. I had never heard such a profoundly beautiful voice before. I spent the next week downloading every song of his I could find. I am still mesmermerized.

As a solo artist, Avi is usually in the folk/Americana genre. In the video description, I mention how Avi and the band wanted to do something special for his Texas fans. He only performed this song 3 times (at each of the Texas shows) and they came up with the arrangement before arriving in Tx. He sang O Holy Night the month before at a live event, and it was a different arrangement.
