literally in the same boat. i realize how much parents need to let their kids explore on their own. my mom is still overly protective of me and i’m 20. i get where she’s coming from, but she taught me how to take care of myself. Parents need to let their kids (17+) explore and gain their own sense of freedom in order for us to gain “life” experience.

I’m 23 and I just moved out but literally only a 10 minute drive away from home, and my parents were so unsupportive and upset and trying to tell me im rushing into things. But I’ve been waiting to move out for so long. I’m glad to see her parents so supportive and it reassures me that I can do this too 🩷

Shay and Colette, thank you for allowing us the joy and privilege of watching the kids grow up. I know all of us have said it so many times, but you guys really were like a family to so many of us. To some, you were like parents, to others, you were like siblings allowing us to watch our KZbin nieces and nephews grow up. Avia was always such a firecracker, so full of spirit, joy, and love. I have been watching since your first year of vlogging, and I always loved her spirit. Many said she was too sassy, too much, but I always cheered for her spirit, and I always loved that you guys allowed your kids the room to be themselves and be a little bit extra because kids deserve that room to grow and explore. I am amazed by the young woman that Avia is becoming, and I'm proud of her KZbin success. I can not wait to see what great things she does into the future, and I truly believe at the end of the day, because of the foundation that both of you set, she'll do it with a good head on her shoulders and goodness in her heart. This is actually so bittersweet. It still shocks me that me and Avia are the same age and have graduated high school in the same year! She has become such a beautiful young woman and I know she is going to do amazing things! I’ve been watching since maybe 2013 so it’s so weird watching the kids grow up as I grow up as well! You guys have literally been one of my biggest KZbin families and I’m forever grateful for finding this channel all those years ago. Even though we don’t know each other, Avia just know I’m supporting you 100% in your career path and I know you’re going to do great things like I already said! It’s going to be weird not seeing her in the vlogs but I know she’s doing what she loves and that makes me so happy!

I’ve been growing up with Avia since 2011 and looked up to her so greatly over the years. In fact, I think I still possess traits from Avia to this day haha! Next week I will be signing a lease to live in an apartment off campus from my college with some of my friends, and seeing this makes me feel proud of the both of us for making it this far! This made me so emotional and made me cry. I’ve been watching since the beginning when there were just the three kids and they were all so small. You guys were always my comfort place after work and throughout life. I moved also moved to Cali but when I was 25 with my parents help and my dad drove with me and my stuff. Over a decade ago I was still living 7,000+ miles away, I was in elementary when I first discovered this channel. Back then, they only had 3 kids. They still lived in that house with trees at the backyard and had a black Great Dane and I remember Shay was still working for some company. I grew up watching their daily vlogs and was always anticipating their Christmas vlogs and the birth of the two youngest sons. I was really sad when they decided to have a break from vlogging. They felt like a family I’ve never met personally. Now in my mid 20s, I have lived in San Francisco and now in San Diego. Graduated college, had numerous jobs, been through multiple heartbreaks, been married, been separated, moved to different apartments, gone through different cars… time really goes fast. Crazy now that I’m thinking of it. I don’t watch them as often as I used to but I never forget to check them every now and then. Bittersweet, not gonna lie. Thank you for bringing us with your journey, Shaytards. Rest assure, you all with mine as well!
