We flew in just recently but back in the cabin we didn't feel much except on short final the pilot made some quick corrections. Taking off was not scary as the Dash8-400 used very little runway.

Dave Shizzles Safer than manny other places in.the world. No accidents here only one in the 70's when the runway was way to.short. Here only the best pilots will land. Fly with TAP they know.how to fly and land.here.

Good stuff! Its easy to admire the pilots who made a landing but you should also admire the ones who chose to go around. Always better to do that too soon rather than too late. Might think twice about flying to Madeira on a windy day :-)

Try landing a jet (B737) in mechanical turbulence like that on a 3,000' runway (PADU). Been there. And the mountain is closer to the runway at PADU.

+Darius Cameron They are steering into a fierce crosswind, while moving straight down the center line of the runway. Just before touch down, they let the wind straighten out the plane. Timing is everything. It is called "crabbing". Pilots are underpaid. The pilot at 1:40 nails it.
