Thanks! I'm playing the ATC sound through a virtual audio cable (you should look that up on Google) and I "listen" to that virtual audio cable by enabling the listen to this device option in the Windows audio settings for that virtual audio cable.

Yeah, some nights it's bad, some nights I don't have problems with ATC and then there's also a big difference between controllers. You get used to it eventually, I don't like the Teamspeak audio of IVAO either, even though it's more clear. Thanks for watching! :)

Great video as always! Because of your tutorial videos about VatSim I was able this weekend to fly my first and second ever flights online. Utterly terrifying but extremely exciting too. I didn't screw up too much, just forgot to do a couple of things, but the ATC controllers were very patient as I mentioned I was a novice in the flight plan. Quick question: When you turn off the runway after landing are you expected to report to Tower that you have vacated or do they normally give you automatic ground hand over? I know it's probably different depending on the country. Would you be able to fly from or to London Gatwick in a video? They normally have very good coverage with DEL, GND and TWR controllers. Keep up the great videos!
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad to hear you made it to VATSIM :) It never hurts to say that you have vacated the runway, that's what I usually do. But sometimes ATC will already give you further instructions when on the runway, like "vacate next right, contact Ground 121.800." or they are simply ahead of you before you contact them. Some airports, like Amsterdam, have auto-handoff procedures so you have to contact Ground yourself without being given a handoff from Tower at all. In case you are not sure, you could still report vacated to Tower and he/she will probably just give you the Ground frequency ;).

Hey! Great video as always, :) by the way, why did you set initial climb altitude 5000ft in your, when it said 4000ft in the charts on 8:51 ? :D And why don't you use pmdg's pushback via your mcdu, it is kinda nice to set you at least a bit angled to the taxiway.. Anyways I love your videos, keep it up!)

When you want to change you speed while having VNAV without FMC, just press SPD INTV button under VNAV button. BTW that was me on LZIB_TWR... I had to disconnect, because of change with another controller. And ou dont have to use full reverse. It is enough about 30% with autobrake 1. And you will nicely vecate via D. Dont worry we have long runways :D
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for being on Tower! :) Yes I know, I just wondered if there was another way to do it, but indeed SPD INTV would have been an option too :). And yeah, my Saitek throttle is configured in such way that it always applies full reverse, so I can't really control that, unless I buy a second throttle quadrant with axis for the reversers :D

Do you have to recalculate fuel consumption if you increase your cruising speed and/or stay below your cruising altitude for a longer period?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
You don't need to recalculate, but it's useful to update the FMC with the new data to make sure you still arrive with enough fuel at your arrival airport. The flight plan takes into account these kind of deviations, there is always some extra fuel in the airplane for that. And it's not a very big difference in fuel consumption probably ;).

How do you predict what runway you will take off from?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
Look at the METAR or ATIS for the wind direction, from that you can deduce what runway is likely to be used. Or listen to the ATIS of your arrival airport to know the exact landing runway.

never rotate above 10deg before you have climbed 10ft on takeoff, that equals tailstrike in a 737-800
@jviation737
@jviation737 7 жыл бұрын
Actually no. He had the F/D on, *and he followed the F/D* For VR, the F/D displays how high to pitch up, and it calculates it *and factors in a Tailstrike* The F/D along with the entire A/P is much better than human's decision
@robertjohansson8768
@robertjohansson8768 7 жыл бұрын
actually yes, i have my sources from my 737 captain dad. The FD only show a vertical path, it has no special function depending on aircrafts. When the HUD where being used in the 737 there was a maximal pitch line showing and it changed depending on which aircraft you sat in. There is also a altitude from where you can begin trusting on the FD. During rotation no more then 10 deg before +10ft is the recomendation to avoid tailstrike.
@jviation737
@jviation737 7 жыл бұрын
Robertson J 'recommendation' I've talked with pilots and crews, and during all takeoff procedures, the crew pull up to match the F/D. That's how it goes. I've flown in a 737 multiple times, I've been told to do it, and I've talked to WN pilots, and they do it. Watch any, *_and I mean, any_* takeoff from the flightdeck. Nearly every time (always exceptions), they pitch to the F/D, right after the takeoff. _Why would the F/D raise up if the pilot were not to 'trust' it?_ "There is also a altitude from where you can begin trusting on the FD" - The F/D (in a nutshell), tells you what to pitch and bank to. It handles on landing, and takeoff. Around 2000 ft _(this varies)_ LNAV AND VNAV takeover, not "trust the F/D". During rotation no more then 10 deg before +10ft is the recomendation to avoid tailstrike. - Bud, there are tons of variables for this. Velocity, CG, Weight, etc. There are (mathematically) plenty of circumstances, where you can pitch to 10 deg. *After all, in the video, he clearly was climbing fine and was having no issue, along with no sign of a tail strike* Watch the takeoff again, (or go to 27:56 if you're impatient) and notice how he *clearly* has no tailstrike issue and he is 10-14 feet above the ground at 10 deg (which fits *your* requirement). Not to mention the V/S which was fine as well "The FD only show a vertical path" - That's a flat-out lie. Either you never have seen a F/D, you're lying about your father, or you're making stuff up. *The F/D moves on the X-Axis buddy. Not just up and down. It turns and banks.* Proof? - aol.it/2hIpjDt and bit.ly/2i3gOnw "When the HUD where being used in the 737 there was a maximal pitch line showing and it changed depending on which aircraft you sat in. " - Not really, the HUD displays the same information as the lower panels. *The entire point of a HUD is to display information from the lower panels and PFDs faster and instead of looking down. They also allow for better visibility in night and help with ILS approaches, but that's for landings, and can show the horizon when there is low visibility* All-in-all, the takeoff was fine, and thus he knew what he was doing. He didn't tailstrike the aircraft, and from experience in real and simulated 737s, he did a fine job. -Cheers

JordanCO_ TV boeing has its limit on 10deg rotate before 10ft on the 737-800. And of course i know the FD moves on the x axis as well BUT how often do you turn within maybe 100ft? or 50ft? how it moves on the x axis isn't important when we're talking about rotation. Maybe you think i lie about my dad but i you can't know for sure of course but i know and i am going to trust his 20years of experience. What i wrote was the information he gave me and that is what i am going to believe in.

Robertson J Did you not read what I said about the actual VR he did in the video? I'm guessing you did not, thus I'm going to repeat myself. Watch the takeoff again, (or go to 27:56 if you're impatient) and notice how he clearly has no tailstrike issue and he is 10-14 feet above the ground at 10 deg (which fits your requirement). Not to mention the V/S which was fine as well You completely ignored what I said about the HUD (which disproved what you said and was correct), thus we're going to assume I was right and move on from it. "And of course i know the FD moves on the x axis as well BUT how often do you turn within maybe 100ft? or 50ft? how it moves on the x axis isn't important when we're talking about rotation." - You're trying to say it like I'm talking about it turn on takeoff. *You said it doesn't turn at all, I just said, "you're wrong, it does"* . _Nothing more, nothing less. You're putting words into this, when really, I was just proving how what you said was wrong_ "boeing has its limit on 10deg rotate before 10ft on the 737-800" - Again, you've completely ignored what I said about the actual takeoff in this video. *Please, re-read my comment* "Maybe you think i lie about my dad but i you can't know for sure of course but i know and i am going to trust his 20years of experience. What i wrote was the information he gave me and that is what i am going to believe in." - Uncle is 744 captain (Atlas Air), and my entire family revolves around aviation (I'm not going to describe it all, as I find that as boasting. Point being, you're not the only one with aviation-information at disposal). Long story short (since you ignored what I said last time), *go to **27:56* and see how he clearly does not tail-strike the aircraft. At VR, he rotates up at first 5 deg, then continues to match the F/D. *It's standard procedure* Some crews climb to 8 deg (from reading) and continue up. If you're Dad says that you'll tailstrike at 10 deg *everytime* in a 738, then that's on him. I've seen 737s do it the way I've said it, and I've spoken to experienced (777, 767, 757, MD-80/90/717, 747, etc) crews about it, and they all say the same thing. The takeoff was perfectly fine, and quite outstanding to say the least. He *didn't tailstrike* and he climbed perfectly fine. I've seen plenty of times where the crew will say something (and after researching) it not add up. After researching, *I've found no evidence to prove that Boeing has a limit of 10 deg* (However, I've found things that support what I've said) www.flaps2approach.com/journal/2014/8/4/boeing-737-800-takeoff-procedures-simplified.html "Normal lift-off attitude for the B737-800 is between 8 and 10 degrees providing 20 inches of tail clearance at flaps 1 and 5. Tail contact will occur at 11 degrees of pitch if still on or near the ground. Liftoff attitude is achieved in approximately 3 to 4 seconds depending on airplane weight and thrust setting." *WHICH PROVES MY POINT* I don't see any good reason in replying. All points were made (I know you're reading this too), and there is really nothing else to add to it. Good day

El mago de Soyuk No way. P3d may have more addons available then x plane, but x Plane looks better out of the box, and has way more realistic physics. Buy a good payware plane and the rest is freeware.
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
I can't tell that, that is really based on your own preference. Indeed, X-plane looks good out of the box, but it does not have many addons like good weather engines or nice looking clouds. Also, the market is a lot smaller so you will miss out on some good airplanes that are available for Prepar3D.
@flyingdolphino5757
@flyingdolphino5757 7 жыл бұрын
AviationPro However the market for x plane is expanding and with the release of xenviro we now have a weather engine that looks nice too :)
@carebelademoguer
@carebelademoguer 7 жыл бұрын
thanks for the reply, I was thinking from switching because really, yes xplane has very good payware addons IXEG 737 etc... but for instance the a320 from jar design is a lot behind compared to the aerosoft one (It's cheeper) or the 737 800 that xplane has it's not EVEN payware is a freeware so it can't be compared to the pmdg one that is....AMAZING. Xplane has better physics and very good night lighting but again the lack of 10/10 payware aircraft and addons compared to xplane is reason why I am thinking about the change.
@flyingdolphino5757
@flyingdolphino5757 7 жыл бұрын
El mago de Soyuk This is what i tend not to understand. The pmdg 737-800 is about on the same level of the ixeg 737-300. They are both study sims. Ill tell you now that the 300 is more entertaining to fly. This point aside PMDG have said they will be moving the 737-800 to x plane as soon as they can. Its a waiting game. The question you want to ask yourself is, do I want to go with a 32bit aging program which looks good with help of its addons but however requires a beast of a machine and does not take advantage of your machine OR do you want a new 64bit program which looks ok out of the box and be made to look better with help for many freeware addons and some payware but have to wait a bit until as many good quality addons are available as now in FSX/P3D. If you do switch to p3d and spend hundreds on addons then find 1 year down the line xp11 has good alot of good ones too but has all the advantages it has today. And about the addons, there are sufficient. Aircraft, you got them (with the exception of a good airbus, but new ones are releasing next year), weather? X Enviro/skymaxpro. Ground services? Jar ground handling deluxe, Scenery? all is free. It is your decision.

Audio quality on VATSIM is dreadful. As a beginner to online ATC I've sat and observed a number of times and can honestly say 80%+ of comms is unclear to me. I've decided to start life on IVAO and in comparison I've understood every word transmitted during my first 5 flights......
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
Stay tuned for a video coming soon that will help you to deal with the VATSIM radio quality. Indeed, it's not that good, but I don't like the Teamspeak sound of IVAO either, which is somehow too clear and you can often hear the echo of people's rooms which is unrealistic as well.

Morgow tbh the quality of the controllers is probably either because 1) bad microphone or 2) they haven't set their squelch correctly in their client. First lesson for me in atc training was to get the squelch right cause otherwise you get a bunch of background noise etc making it sound rubbish

Partly the network audio quality, but usually also controllers using bad microphones or not using them properly. As you can hear in some of my other videos, some controllers are actually easily understandable, some are not.
