I just want to thank the whole team at APPG for the awesome content here, and for the opportunity to offer this to the masses for free. I still am going to buy the DVD to support the cost and time it took to produce and finance this video. there is so much knowledge here. I can't wait to start kitting. I first have to get a wing and ground harness sized for me. I have to say watching this video cements that training is a must must must. I now know that there is now way a would ever try to self teach the sport of PPG. after seeing this is knowing there is way more then others make it look like on KZbin. A huge thank you to the team at FliteTest and guys like Tucker and Woody for all they do and for also stressing that getting training is a must. you guys make it look easy and again with content like this it shows how involved it really is to as tucker says put a but fan on and run into the wind.

I don't know how I let PPG get by me for 47 years, but I ran across a video on youtube where Eric was coaching flyers as they were taking their first flights. His voice was so soothing and was literally calming ME down as I was experiencing some stress just watching new flyers take off and land...Anyway, since that video, I'm am now FULLY obsessed with the sport and am actively rearranging things in my life to set myself up to get my training by Eric and the team...might take a couple years but it's my life now.

I've been researching PPG for months and still on the fence but I will say two things. 1 this is by far the best information I have found so far on entry level kiting. 2. It gives you some instant credibility as a trainer rather than just someone else's opinion. Thanks for putting this out there.

Enjoyed the video - thanks for making it public. One thing that really helped me with kiting was filming my many failed attempts - especially during forward launches. No matter how much my instructor yelled at me, his words simply made no sense while running like a mad man with a gigantic drag chute behind me! Luckily, my girlfriend filmed the entire training session and while reviewing the video in the comfort of the hotel room, it all started to come together and I could finally make sense of all the information. I know AviatorPPG uses video reviews during their training, but I highly recommend it during your own kiting sessions as well.

Absolutely invaluable to film yourself doing this. From day one when I first got my wing, I've been filming myself with my GoPro and I've learned so much just watching my own footage and noticing the things that I didn't notice while doing the kiting.

@@tylerw1418 "it"... is no longer. When this was produced, it was a very well done compilation of information, but most of that was publically available from fragmented sources in cyber space at the time. These guys spent a significant sum for the production of the video and further, produced it in DVD format, intending to sell it to new students and others. Back then, the greater existing PPG community balked. Apparently there was a widely held belief that training, or maybe not training, but information should be free? Not quite sure, but Aviator attempting to charge fair value for the video went over like a lead balloon. Some, made some unfair accusations of greed and profit, but the proof is in the pudding as they say. The FREE release of the video likely cemented Aviator PPG's place among the top training facilities in the world. The information they share here has also stood the test of time. It is still one of the best and most concise educational pieces on the topic of ground handling.

@@tylerw1418 Incidentally @1:50 Eric start into the topic of people being "angry" that training wasn't available. That would have been me for sure. I'd first met Eric at Sun N Fun in 2016. Prior to loosing my ability to hold a medical certificate, PPG wasn't even something I would have ever considered. Unlike people without aviation backgrounds, who don't really know if it's for them, I knew I would be a long term PPG pilot. The day my last airplane was sold, I was cash in hand & ready for PPG training and new gear. Eric however, neglected to disclose his lengthy waiting list until I wanted to purchase. UN-obtaium!!!! A long wait for gear and an impossible wait for training. That's when I started to shop some other schools. There were none near my home in SC, at the time. I also ruled out more than a few for reasons of unprofessionalism. Of those, two have been sued out of business, but none still operate. So? I found someone willing to sell me gear without training and documented my self training journey as it unfolded. a few years later, Eric told me that I cost him many hours of frustration. My initial videos were targeted to prospective PPGers well enough, that it was his prospective students that were seeing them. He therefore had to continually explain to his prospects why they needed training. His entire staff now had to defend the Aviator product and it's cost. I like to think we are good friends and he has grown through the experience.

It definitely isn't proper english, then again "ain't" wasn't either and yet we New Englanders sure picked up on that in the 70s (and have seemed to abandon it recently).

fprintf Don't get me wrong, I love these guys, and really appreciate what they're doing... And this video is awesome. The American education system is failng to teach people the difference between "Fewer" and "Less"; "Good" and "Well"; and most words that end in "-ly", such as "Seriously", "Perfectly", and "Easily". Of course, when I'm hanging from a paraglider at 2,000 feet over Lake Wales, I won't be correcting their grammar! #IAintAGrammerNazi

I am glad that the general feeling that showing ANY instructional PG or PPG videos is evil seems to be changing. Nothing but good comes from having more correct information no matter what your level of training. If someone is going to self train then generally there is nothing you can do to convince them otherwise. Why not help them to be safer by providing guidance? Self training can work for a SMALL percentage of prospective PPG pilots that have a good understanding of aviation to begin with and are the careful sort of person who would make a good pilot in the first place. 1...KNOW part 103 inside and out esp with regard to airspace and where you can and can not fly. (don't overfly ANYTHING, Watch Tucker Gott on a cross country HE knows where an ultralight is SUPPOSED to fly and where it is supposed to avoid) 2...KNOW how to read a seconal and how to understand any and all information it has on it and how to avoid "busting airspace" as well as how to be sure there are no NOTAMS or TSRs that will affect your flight.

Hey Eric and Travis. First of all let me say, this video is absolutely awesome. I am officially your "un-official" new student. Hope to be official soon, just waiting on funding, so hopefully not long. I just wanted to say, after watching you guys and seeing your passion to this sport, and the amazing things Tucker Gott has had to say about you guys on a very regular basis. I know he's sponsored, but besides that, if he wasn't completely passionate about Aviator, I'm sure it would come through in his videos. Please keep these type of videos up, basics like this are amazingly valuable for complete rookies, even like myself, soon to be rookie. When the time comes, I am definately hoping to head down to Florida from where I am in Alberta Canada to train with you guys. There is something about you guys that truly separates Aviator PPG from all the others out there. Sorry about the rant. Thanks for the videos guys. Keep it up

My trainer, not to say he was not a good trainer, but he didn't explain things as clearly as you folks did. Big props to you. The only thing you did not mention is something I will never forget and that is that when you very first start out learning to kite your wing, you will be using muscles you never knew you had and after that very first day or two you will be a little stiff and sore, keep a bottle of asperecreme or similar pain relieving cream on hand. you will need it. Thank you for this. While being able to actually start into this sport for me is at least a year or two in the future, this made a lot of things clearer. When it comes time to actually be able to make use of this, I'll definitely either buy it or make a donation.

Really nice video instruction series. I only wish I had this when I learned to fly but it is still a great resource for me. I love how you have really professionalized PPG instruction. Much success!

Just wanted to say thank you for the video. I'm glad I watched it before making a huge mistake. I've always wanted to fly and have several hours flying helicopters and gyrocopters . And saw how much I wanted to get into ppg. I will be purchasing a wing soon. And in practice know what to look for in weather etc. Till I can get in class next year. Thanks for talking about the safety as being your prime concern

Outstanding stuff! Thank you guys so much for publishing your lessons via KZbin. Indeed, I'm a great fan of aviatorppg.com. You also helped me a lot choosing the right equipment due to your excellent reports on the AviatorShow channel (I'm flying the Ozone Spyder and I'm just about to switch from a TOP 80 Miniplane to a Nitro 200).

Oscar winning production in my opinion. Cool calm and collected throughout. I like the way there was no badmouthing other equipment or people. A stellar job guys. John, was that harness one size to small, it looked slightly uncomfortable lol
