Haven’t listened to this song in a while, and it came up as I’m writing an alternate history novel where I keep JFK Jr and Princes Diana alive. The ending of the book and the epilogue have a 12 year difference, and I was thinking if this ever gets adapted, I would love for this to be the song covering everything that happens post Kennedy presidency. To watch these two grow old and take stock of the changes they brought. So much so, I started to cry. I’m writing this to get out my frustrations at the world, and to give a second life to two people taken too soon, not only for themselves, but all of us too. I hope to have it out soon, but I think it’s a reminder that we all know life can be better and we have to live for those no longer with us. RIP Avicii.

I was still listening to his music in 2020 when I learned that he had died in 2018. My parents were listening to an orchestral mashup of all of his songs and I made them play it over and over until they flat refused, and then I went to bed and listened to his music for hours and just cried. Like so many of you, this man made a massive impact on my life and has for so long inspired me as a musician. I will never forget how heartbroken I was when I finally figured it out, but then again, I will always remember the way my chest swells when his genius hits my ears. Avicii may be dead, but he will never be gone. He is survived by us in the rhythm of our hearts and our refusal to forget just what he's done for us. He may be dead, but in us, he lives eternal.

@Derek Johnson Avicii committed suicide. This is the only case of an artist's death in which I believe they died at their own hand. Avicii's light, the light that let us see through the fear, the pain, was snuffed out by his own darkness. And it is sad, it is terrible, and it will never be forgotten.
