Setting the Canterbury Tales Prologue to string orchestra, came upon the term 'Hurdy Gurdy" and followed it to KZbin. Stumbled upon this incredible performance! Strong peddle point, mixed meters, making this all happen with just a single musician seems miraculous, having played in large orchestras my whole life. Thank you so much.

hiya from what i can tell it looks like it may be from a quick, slightly harsher movement on the hand rotating the crank, similar to an accent on a violin or cello but i was also wondering this and would like to know for sure too!!
