The Avios Extra 330 LX version 2 is the successor to the first release we saw in early 2018. It is very easy to assemble this model. No glue required. All hardware is provided. You'll just need a small cross head screw driver to put it together. I share small number of tips during assembly in the unboxing/assembly video.

This video shows my first throw around of this new Extra 330 on 5 cells in a light cross wind and note that I didn't use a gyro! Not recommended to use the stock ESC on 5 cells but my thinking was my use of full throttle would be limited so why not try it. Certainly makes it more punchy for hovering. On landing I checked the ESC to the touch and it was barely warm. I have the 5S pack right to the front. CG was too far forward for good solid hovering but it wasn't bad. Will move it back an inch for next time out !
I used a 5S3000 flight battery and put it as far forward as it would go. This left the balance point just in front of the quick release buttons underneath the wings.
I setup my transmitter with 3 position rates with 100% being at the maximum BIG throws with the remaining positions at 66% and 33% of maximum throw. I used 30% expo on all rates.

That power roll, with each part of the plane touching the ground, that was epic 😄 I don't know if you are into this kind of experiments, but you could try to put some vortex generators on the wings. They should make it less twitchy. My Addiction X has those and it goes smooth from normal flight to high alpha to hover.

Bit of a cross wind, a relatively light model and I don't cheat using a gyro like a lot of other pilots...so I thought was great it flew like that !

@@EssentialRC haha fair enough. I have been flying for about 15 years and only just got my first plane that has a gyro in, the FMS Rafale with the reflex system and to be honest I kinda like it. I don't think that every plane needs one but that extra little help can sometimes make the flying a bit more enjoyable when the conditions aren't quite perfect. 👌

Yes, have same in Reflex gyro in the FMS A-10 v2 and FMS Extra 330 2m. It definitely makes them feel more 'locked in' in Optimised mode. With regards to hovering...some pilots use a gyro that maintains the hover with a dedicated mode just for that. The Motion RC A3 Super3 gyro does it. Useful if you want to hover without much input.

It's one of the more stable 3d planes in that size, very easy in harrier. I think what you are seeing is mostly oversteering by the pilot.

Nice video if you don't mind me asking have you done a 45' Angle upline test at 3/4 to full throttle? you plane seemed pretty nose heavy in the hovers thanks.

First flight with 5S pack and only have one of them...and yes CG was too far forward but better to a bit conservative. Would have landed and adjusted it but with the wheel off I just opted to carry on.

5 channel is fine. Just need to adjust clevis on aileron push rods to have aileron control surfaces at neutral while aileron servos are at neutral

Hi! How many time can you fly with that battery? It deserves the change from 4S to 5S? I measured the amp with 4S full throttle and is less than 50 amp. Do you think is necessary to change the ESC for 5S? Thanks!

All I can tell you is you get more power, which is not bad thing for 3D especially hovering, and the ESC was cold on landing. Can't guarantee the ESC won't break on 5S but I've done 3 flights on 5S with the stock ESC and still works. If you want to play safe test the amps on 5S full throttle to see if replacement ESC with higher amp rating required.

It's all hollow EPO foam with some tough plastic and carbon re-enforcement. Makes it super light for flying like this.
