Curious why this rower would not be considered for "serious" training? Between the Concept2 and the Aviron, the Aviron resistance goes much higher/harder (if wanted) for the pull.

I totally agree-I get some “strong” and intensive training on my Aviron

From my own knowledge, the Concept 2 is the standard for competition and records, so if you want to compete and/or compare your rowing times against official times, you have to do it on a C2. In other words, you can compete in the Aviron environment against other Aviron rowers, even gaining an elite level of fitness for yourself, but your times won't be valid outside the Aviron ecosystem. Aviron uses a different mechanical drive and calculation algorithm than the C2, so it's going to give you slightly different results than what you'd achieve on the C2. As records are set by fractions of a second, that's significant. So you can "seriously" train on an Aviron, but if you're looking to compete in the world-wide indoor rowing competitive space, you'll want a C2.

Why wouldn't it be for serious training ? I can't figure out why you say that?

@jonny_laguna this is false.

$348 ($29mo) month to month, or $288 ($24mo)paying for the full year on just the membership. And the focus is all on the games??? At least with Peleton you can understand the cost of live classes, I’ll take any other rower and watch a movie.

Not to defend the cost as I'm not a fan of ANY cost to an exercise machine, but the cost of an R&D team to implement new games and modes is expensive -- probably a lot more so than paying trainers for live classes.

Peloton live classes are absolutely useless for me since i've never been interested in that. The games are much more interested and help keep it interesting for me. I'd gladly pay for ongoing updates and new games, etc.
