Makoto is always Makoto. That both he and Chick played a lot with Gary Burton is evident, but for anyone of our generation (we were classmates at Berklee; he - of the truly gifted class, me - not so much!), it would also be nearly impossible not to have been at least somewhat influenced by Chick’s playing.
