I have owned this electric tea kettle for a couple years now. I'm 57 years old and consider my parents to be older adults. They are in their late 70's and mid 80's. I would agree that for older adults the top may be a little challenging to remove but that depends on your strength. My mother might struggle a little but my father would not. Removing the lid has never been a problem for me. Additionally, if strength is a concern then one should also consider that the kettle could be on the heavy side when filled to the maximum if you are someone with strength issues. I use mine most days of the year. I forgot about the other functions that it has because all I do is swipe the button on the right to turn it on, wait for it to gently chirp when it's done, and then pour to make my tea. I don't need any of the other functions so for me it is extremely easy to use and definitely much better than the traditional kettle-on-the-stove approach. I only use distilled water in it and have not had any problems thus far. Personally I would highly recommend it for most folks but I also agree with everything stated in this video.
