What are your thoughts on Vickysenglish?
@maridelacroix19986 ай бұрын
She's an inexhaustible treasure trove of mistakes who's making a lot of money "teaching" bad English. And she couldn't care less. Her bank account is proof to her that her English is awesome. She must regard herself not as a teacher, but as a "mentor". I feel sorry for those who follow her. But, then again, these are probably people who are not serious about their learning of the language and they'll most likely be victims of a "natural selection", especially in the business and professional world.

Yeah, I agree with that, It's essential, relevant, fundamental and important to study GRAMMAR, PHONETICS AND VOCABULARY, as simple as that. BUT, The most essential, relevant, fundamental and important fact is that you gotta practice,that's to say, try to speak the language alk the time constantly 'cause it's useless to study a lot if you don't practice (speak). 20% study; 80% practicing.

How can she consistently make simple grammar mistakes while teaching English online, especially when she's highly popular on KZbin as an English teacher? She's inadvertently teaching incorrect grammar and pronunciation to her audience.
@ТатьянаЛеонова-я9г6 ай бұрын
Then nobody can teach english, except native speakers. Every secondary state Russian school has several english teachers. And they speak much worse than this youtuber. Simply because they have never talked to Americans or english people. Because people in Russia are poor and they can't go abroad for just practicing. Learning only textbooks, books, watch videos, you cant talk perfect english. So, cant they all teach? Yes, they can, because there are no other variants for pupils)

Why should it be "Could you repeat that" but not "Could you repeat this"? What the rule for this(that) is?
@alejandrocubides96666 ай бұрын
I guess because the info comes outside of you
@fredylopez247711 сағат бұрын
Because you said it and then the person who you said it to, didn't hear you so that person asks you; Could you repeat THAT ?, everything in past tense. You can't use "THIS" because that person is not asking you to repeat it at the same time you're speaking, present tense. I hope I made myself understood.

Hi, Kevin and Liza! I really don't know if it's a silly question, but could you explain the difference between " catch up in" and "get carried away", please?
@fredylopez24776 ай бұрын
It's not a silly question man, if you wanna learn, there are no silly questions at all, They're completely different verbs, "To catch up" has several meanings, depending on context (and the correct verb is "to catch up") without "in". BUT the main meanings are; - reach out. - talk about things that happened in the past since two or more people last met or spoke. - reach someone or something. In spanish - alcanzar en una carrera. - ponerse al día - alcanzar a alguien o algo. "To get carried away" has only one meaning and that is: - get excited or get enthusiastic. In Spanish: "entusiasmarse", "emocionarse".

She almost never uses articles to link two words together. It is because her Slavic intromission since Russian doesn't include these grammatical structures within their dialect?
@fredylopez247711 сағат бұрын
That doesn't matter, if she knows she doesn't master the language why does she keep pretending to be a teacher, well it's obvious, she loves money and profits.

As usual the same question remains: Why? Why we can't use "this" ? ))
@rocketmoonshine92056 ай бұрын
I guess we use that because it's someone whom you talk to says it and you want them to repeat the part that you miss.
@fredylopez247711 сағат бұрын
You can't use "THIS" because the action is not happening at the same time both persons are speaking, it already happened in the past, that's why we gotta use "THAT".
