I came across your channel today, and i am so glad i did. Answer to Q3...I do this by being a role model for the students. I show no partiality towards any student and make sure not to have any favorite in my class. All students are treated fairly, and I always encourage my students to do the same. I also include social and emotional learning sessions where students have the chance to discuss how they would handle basic misunderstandings themselves in a mature manner. I am a high school teacher, thanks.

Hi Gordon, thank you so much for these videos. Honestly I've been watching a lot of these types of videos and yours are the most succinct and useful. Love your audio recording quality as well. One question about your answer on differentiation - by incorporating "visual, auditory, and kinesthetic" activities, you mean this as providing a multi-modal type of instruction, right? I ask because because I know the empirical research doesn't support the claim that we should differentiate in regards to a child's specific type of "learning style." Do you have any experiences with this?
@gordonamerson28
@gordonamerson28 Ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting and being a part of our community. I appreciate the engagement. With respect to your question about differentiation…you are exactly correct. When I say use different modalities it is to provide different forms of learning engagement that will create a classroom full of energetic learners because they see connections to learning through various ways.

My experience is this area leads me to coach and support my teachers to be dynamics in their instructional design process and to include multiple modes of instruction. Again my goal is for teachers to create learning on- ramps where we invite our scholars into the learning process and using various forms of instruction connects with our students in different ways. Hope this helps. 😊

Hi Doc another tricky question: Are assugnments necessary? how often should assignments be give for each level- elem mid and hs? For a principal whos inetrviewing--- what are the keywords he/she needed to hear with a question what is ur biggest contrubution to the curriculum? As to the voice of the applicant. What tone volume pace and pitch is the excellent one for the panel? Thanks
@gordonamerson28
@gordonamerson28 Ай бұрын
Good questions…as usual. 😊 With respect to assignments, it’s all about your purpose and intent. In my opinion assignments are a way to monitor student progress. As such, they should be frequent enough to be able to gauge if students are learning or if opportunities to reteach content is necessary. The number and frequency should be driven by two things. Teacher discretion and student need. Keywords that principals are looking for when it comes to curriculum are “evidence based” “data driven” “inquiry focused”. When it comes to curriculum we are looking for dynamic educators focused on being cutting edge in the design and development of curriculum. Tone and pitch are all about passion, empathy and dedication. Being excited and be joyful. Let the panel see what you will be as a member of their team.

Do you think I'm not getting employed by a school district because of my age? I've been interviewing all up and down California for 7 years now. I have to admit every time I have an interview I'm super nervous. This will be my last interview 😢. I give up. I am taking your advice as my last chance attempt. I have one for you, I am interviewing for a teaching position at a highschool to teach a trade and I don't have a college degree but do have 50,000 hours of experience in the related field. My interview is with teachers and people with doctorate degrees. I have taught for three years for my previous employers new hires and the certifications thay received do transfer to college credit. I was wondering what advice you have for a not teacher interviewing for a technician teaching position?
@gordonamerson28
@gordonamerson28 Ай бұрын
The beauty of career technical education is just how important career expertise and technical expertise can be in a classroom. My advice is to focus on that 50,000 hours of experience, the tangible benefits, the value added, and the expertise to go out and do technical work that will produce effective outcomes for students, for people, and for a community. That’s what you harness and leverage in the interview. That’s what you showcase and highlight for the interview panel.
