Excellent video! I appreciate your sharing, especially at personal expense! And for people like me, who are just learning, these are valuable. I would, however, like to know how you decide between the settings that do work. What I mean is, do you go for max power and minimal time, minimal power for maximum time, or somewhere in between? What factors into your decision?

Best "look". I also try to keep power below 90% when possible.

Cut tests are for sure a must. When just engraving you can still use the test as a general idea and just dial back settings? I still have much to learn
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Yes, I also run test patterns when engraving, just not this one as it would burn holes in the wood!

Loved the 16project video still trying to figure out settings on the b1 my lightburn time and what it actually does is nowhere close
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
@@chrisciraldo4935 Make sure you are set to mm/min and not mm/sec. Big difference! i only use mm/sec on my CO2 laser.

Thank you for this Roger. Can I size the whole grid? I want to do a grid test for business cards. So I want to scale it really small.
@rogersshop16 күн бұрын
yes, to a point. Too small and you won't be able to read it.

My laser dont cut 3mm plywood with speed 150mm/m and even with power 100% what can be the reason? I tryed all types of gbrl in lightburn
@rogersshop4 ай бұрын
My first two thoughts are proper focus and is the lens dirty?
@iskrazpolski17154 ай бұрын
Im not sure about proper focus i have to check how to check this but half year a go was good :p I tryed to clean lens few days a go but its dont helped i will check tomorrow again maybe I made it wrong. Laser is longer b1 w30 so with 150mm/m speed and 100% power i cant cut 3mm plywood 😅 while I watched video where someone with same laser cut 5mm plywood with speed 1000mm/m... I will take your advice to heart and check it all tomorrow because now in my country is 00:30 oclock

@@rogersshop thanks you for the answer. Im not sure about proper focus because I dont know how to check this but I will learn this tomorrow and check. I watched video where someone who have same laser "longer b1 w30" cut plywood 5mm with speed 1000mm/m and I cant cut even 3mm with speed 150mm/m..... its crazy for me. @@rogersshop i do it everything but its dont helped i think its problem with Lightburn not with laser, when i used another program "lasergrbl" i saw big diffrence, but this program is totaly black magic for me, so in lightburn i reset to fabric setting but it still dont helped but i see one problem and maybe this is the problem i tryed solution with type $30=100/1000 and $32=1 and when i type $30 there is a communicate "[MSG:Laser spindle on Pin:GPIO(32), Enbl:None, Freq:1000Hz, Res:16bits Laser mode:On]" maybe this is the problem?

Check that focus is correct. Check that lens is not dirty.

Why don’t you use lightburn’s material test feature that makes these test grids?

Newbie here. I have a Longer B1 30 watt. After running my first Material Test, I think I inadvertently changed settings in the Edit Material Settings - specifically Speed and Max Power settings. Can you tell me what those values should be? Thank you.

You can run this grid on the 10W as well. Results will be similar to the Jicoda and xTool D1 I showed.

Why would you not use 100% power to get the fastest speed every time on a LED laser? On a CO2 laser the longivity of the laser tube can be prolonged by using lower power. But is that really true for a LED laser?
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Some say that running at 100% will shorten the life of the laser. I generally run 90-100% at fastest speed that still gives good results and have not found much degradation.
