Ok i basically failed 3 driving tests so far, And i have over 50 hours on my driving lessons I'm literally the best driver everytime between the others i get with on my lessons. I rarely mistake and im always confident ! But the problem is. everytime i just hear or think of a "driving test" i get this deep warming feeling inside of me. a little burn that i would call being extremely nervous... And thats probably because i always wanted to drive with my own car by my own ! - It always was a dream... So everytime i get in a test.. *Heart starts to pump fast* .. But ! i try to hold it in !... Nope *I can't!* , I try my best to focus but if you see my face on my tests you would just imagine someone who is hiding a suicidal bomb under his jacket.. It's so hard to not get "nervous" for me..! My next test is in 5 days.. it will be my 4th test ... And you know what? I feel like im going to fail over and over and over, I will look at my comment the next year and be like *I fkin knew it* I will never get it ! ... No matter what i think or what or what... i just can't hide my nerves away !! HELP ME... Na just don't cause i know it won't help .. i promise ! EDIT: I JUST PASSED MY DRIVING TEST. It is very worrying when you said the pupil who was doing Pass Plus doesn't check their mirrors because they have already passed their driving test. The real question is how many people think the same way? Scary thought.
@JamesTravis9 жыл бұрын
You are correct it is a worry. I ended up asking the person why they thought it was ok not to check and what could happen it it didn't improve.
@mryrius3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the same people that don’t check their mirrors also don’t check when they cross the street. I feel like there are so many things to think about. I think I've got it together and then there's something else I'm not doing right. Like being in the wrong lane coming off a roundabout there have been times when I've been in the right hand lane and then my instructor has told me to be I should be in the left hand lane and when the road filters into one it's easier to be in the left lane because you haven't got to come over.

@JamesTravis8 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruth, I would be asking my pupil to work on the mistakes from the driving tests, in-between the previous test and the next test.. If the same mistakes are coming up each time then more work is required. I would also be asking the pupil to do some more mock tests, for it could be you are driving to a good standard when not under pressure, but in a test you are making silly mistakes( A couple of mock tests leading up to your next test will help). There is no harm in asking another instructor to give you an assessment of your driving. Good luck on your next test.

I learned to ignore my door mirrors when moving off, more-so when changing direction. Mirror signal manoeuvre is not very effective! LOOK 360°, SIGNAL, LOOK 360° AGAIN, then begin my manoeuvre. Here's a comparative analogy... When cutting something, measure it twice and cut cleanly once! Don't just rely on mirrors, there are clues and reflections everywhere, survey your environment as you drive. This is just my humble opinion, I could be wrong!

Hey travis wanted to ask you a question. In uk if both cars are on main road and one of the car signals right who's meant to wait me or the other driver ? Btw I'm the driver turning right onto my road and the other car just braked last minute and then he was shrugging his shoulders. I presumed he would wait as there was no where for me to pull in on the left and I signaled way early. Please let me know as this scared and confused me and I had my children with me . Much appreciated thank you
@JamesTravis5 жыл бұрын
If you are turning right and there is an oncoming car coming towards you, then you give way to them. If you are turning right and the car behind you cannot go past you safety on the left, then the car behind you has to wait till you have turned right.

with an angle start do you always have to indicate? I do believe her but my test is in a few days and I dont want minors due to being unsure which instructor is correct.
@JamesTravis8 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. Your new instructor is correct that you do not need to signal your intentions if no one is around. But I will say that if you are about to pull off and are unsure then signal. The examiner will not mark a minor fault as long as you cancel the signal after moving off. Good luck with your test. Try watching my video of what to expect on your driving test day.

It’s considered inconsiderate to the car behind you at night if on the brake for a long period of time whilst stationary. The brake light would give them eye strain. If you are waiting for a couple of seconds to move off, then it’s ok.

Hi Trevor, Been through two tests now, currently failed both but I feel as though I have learnt from my mistakes in the first test which were then improved upon in the second (undue hesitation at a roundabout). Coming up to having a years worth of lessons now and now 4 weeks away from my next test. My dad said I shouldn't have any more lessons now but feel as though I should at least be doing an hour each week now with my instructor just to avoid bad habits. I believe i'm capable of passing by don't want to doubt myself, often feel tense and just want to focus on the test itself, not other factors which put me off such as the cost of lessons, time etc. Any suggestions on how I could think more positively and constructively? Thank You and great videos!
@JamesTravis8 жыл бұрын
Dan Rawley hi, regarding driving lessons leading upto your test. I would be asking the pupil what they want to do leading up to the test. Work on the areas that could cause a mistake and stick to simply driving(don't try and complicate things). Keep reminding yourself that you have come a long way since your first test and your standard of driving has improved to the level that you just need the examiner to stamp pass on the sheet. To keep yourself focused think of ways that can put you under pressure, such as on your lesson driving and picking up your dad or friend and taking them home. The added pressure of taking someone in the back of car can help your cope with pressure on the test. Whenever you make a silly mistake ask yourself was it a fault that keeps happening if yes, it will need to be sorted. Have mock tests. Hope this advise helps. Good luck with your test.

Hear they fail people for sneezing

I would say you should be ok. Unless you suddenly drive dangerously when sneezing.

And if I've had a bad lesson I feel like it's £50.00 gone down the drain 😡

Please tell me that's a 2 hour lesson?
@voguegirl22187 жыл бұрын
Yes it was. But I swear I must have spent at least a thousand pounds on lessons. I took my test last Friday and failed. I am so upset 🙁That's £62.00 gone down the drain plus I had to pay for a lesson beforehand. Then I couldn't believe my instructor charged me for the hour I have my test in. I am devasted. Hope yours goes ok.

Thanks, got mine next week. You may have failed, but you learned a lot from your mistakes. It's better to make mistakes now, sitting next to a trained professional, rather than on your own. Look at mistakes as a learning curve, don't dwell on them, learn from them. Failing your test now, only means you're going to be a better driver when you do pass.

is it common to fail the basic skills test that occurs beforehand? I did but I've been practicing for a long time. I'm perfectly fine driving and if I can just get on the road I know I'll be fine, it's just getting past the basic skills test.

+Emily McCall hi, if you are referring to a driving test outside of the UK then I am not sure. But lots of pupils fail the driving test in the U K for basic moving off and stopping.
