I worked for a marina in Upstate New York. I was able to get some aluminum dock section that were faded, but still SOLID. I have a 4x8 DECK on top of my Transit that I can take pictures from. I also used one "plank" to make a running board for the passenger side. Truck bed coating made it look new! I'm about to start insulating, then electrical, and framing...my 12th van since 1973!

I'm currently starting my van build, so just about to make a whole lot of mistakes. But vids like this really help to make me avoid some of them, thanks!

One of my favorite, creative things on your build is the roof deck. I'm going to steal that idea and use Trex (a composite material) that would last longer than the van itself 👍

Trex gets wavy-gravy. I used an aluminum DOCK section to make my DECK on top of my transit. I was able to man-handle a 4x8 section up(on top of Unistruts) to have a spot to chill and take pictures from.

Very nice 👌 using the roof as a lookout spot is bad ass!!! You need one of those foldable comfy chair

I'm on my 12th van since 1973. I have a 2020 Transit now with a 4x8 aluminum dock section on top. GREAT for taking pictures, and lightweight!

I haven't personally experienced this but @Vancityvanlife talks about leaving areas for air to get behind walls to dry moisture also rubber in the front floorboard holds moisture so use carpet to allow moisture to dry.

These are some of my favorite videos to watch. Thank you for your insights! I’ve just found your channel and may be purchasing my own Chevy express to convert soon. Maybe I’ll see you on the road!

The sink issue is easily solved. Make it big enough to be able to fit your largest pan and make a board the same size as the hole and place it on top of your sink. Now you have a large enough sink and more bench space.

I would just cut notches in the dividers for longer items.

Instead of making the sink bigger. Reduce the sice of your dishes. Reduces als the space needed to stor.

First mistake most DYI make.. They don't get all the tools they will need to build them first... Then they end up taking short cuts. That they have to go back and fix right...I know. I did the same thing....

With the curtains im not understanding why you cant just grab a pair of scissors and cut length from the bottom. Am i missing something? 🤔

How did you attach the planks to your roof rack?
@BoundlessBrad Жыл бұрын
Drilled holes in the planks and used U bolts!

Everything I've done so far is all mistakes. I can't even cut a board straight.😳😡🤣

You can still treat the wood, and nope it doesn't make your van more stealth 🤣 please get a square sink get away from the idea of a bowl will be easier to wash any dishes and you still can stay very small
