It's also important to factor in the increased refinements the civ gear gives: 20% combined on each of attack and hp with these two pieces. I think this swings it in favour of having the two civ pieces over the full ach set up.

That’s only if you can manage to get the higher refines. In reality, most people will gain about half of that from refines, if not less.

@@RedEvony Though nobody's ach gear is maximally refined either. So, if I have, say, 22% average on ach refines, I'll be looking for around 27% on the civ pieces. It'll cost a bit to get there, but many of us without civ gear have saved up a lot of stones and gems in the meantime.

I think both of you are right but to consider one piece of Ach gear cost around ~300k to get high refines while you might not even finish with 1.5M gems te refine a cove gear. This video is the best suggestion for 90% of players and FPS. Practically even the VIP16 don’t have enough gems to refine most of gears properly.

He could also factor in the specs of his sub gens, if he didn't do that already. The 2nd and 4th specs are almost always a debuff of some kind. Normally complimenting the generals main skill, so worth plugging runestones and gems in for.

You have a good point. I went threw this recently. However you can add the leftover gear to sub city generals if you don’t have full sets then the recoup the loss on debuffs!

Good video with good advice, as always, but there's one major flaw I've noticed. Doing the additional research is certainly good advice, but it doesn't help fill the gaps. The additional research simply raises the baseline on top of which the gear is added. In other words, while your buffs are certainly better with the research, the differences between the Achaemenidae and Civilization gear are still the same.

Thank you 😊 The differences between the individual gear pieces will remain the same, of course. However, when looking at the overall buffs in your castle, by replacing/switching gear, there will be some changes. You will gain on some stats, while you lose on some stats. The point here is that once you have made the gear change, the stats you have lost on become gaps. To ensure that the buffs in your keep are definitely improving, it is important to fill in those gaps created. One way to do that is with research. So at the end of the day, the stats in your keep will be improved with little to no gaps after switching the gear. This is seen when comparing battle reports of “Before” and “After” 👌

I get 1000% Archer attack debuff already, with just ares/ach gear in my subs and k38 and tank rallies very well because of the extra siege range. I would happily sacrifice the extra debuff for siege range. Many times I go positive on siege bombs where I don't think it would be possible without matching the siege range of the enemy.

Grate video. Its not specific to just a wall general though. Ive spent a ton of time explaining to people that they need to pay attention when mixing gears. you need to compare both the adds and the losses for what you are doing.

I always kept 2 ares gear, helm and pants, as for ground HP debuff im not too concerned since ground has a lot of flat HP to begin with, so I always focused on ground defense debuff IMO.

It's all based on how you build your keep.. stats are very important but Good defence layering is just as important too. KingSingh Said it the best, there's no such as thing a good or bad wall general. Meaning you pick a wall general based on what you plan to build for a defence layer. This stat augment may not make sense to you but to someone and what they may have in their keep, it's perfect!

Thanks for the great information. I have a number of questions. I upgraded some of my Achaemenidae armor and weapons on my wall general equipment to Parthian. Does this lose me my set buff? Do I get it back if I upgrade everything to Parthian? I assume you were talking about an Achaemenidae set buff just like the Civ set buff. Yes? Second does dragon equipment also have a set buff? Or were you just talking about coverage of all the equipmentt? And not a set buff? Thanks so much.. I have one general that has a mux of ares and Ach. Tuned to that generals speciality. Nice video man, definately food for thought. I don't fully agree nor disagree with your thoughts on this, especially the bracers vs Acha ring. One big factor to consider is the fact that(although this should be an obvious statement) We all play a different Evony, when it comes to our pvp experiences. For small power alliances, newer players, etc, that 5% siege range bonus probably will go unnoticed. But if you are a higher power alliance, and your battlefields end up having tougher opponents, siege fighting becomes a real factor, and that 5% can make a big difference, especially when defending rallies. Even the statement of "defending rallies" varies for everyone lol. I have a buddy who is in a different alliance in my server( in continent 4) and we share our battlefield reports all the time. He was stoked in showing me he defended against an archer rally, and was laughing that the leader set the rally with Himiko. My buddy at this time was a k35 around 1.7b mainly t1 trap. Funny enough, when he shared me the report, I noticed it was from you 😂 I was like " hey that's aka! I watch his videos" lol... But the point is defending against a 3-5man archer rally, consisting of lowish/medium buffs isn't the same as defending a 20-30m+ rally of buffs in the 2k+ range; and in the higher tier archer rallies, your t10 siege actually does a lot of work, and if you look up the range bonus of t9/10, and multiply that by 15% and multiply it by 10%(koryo vs Acha), the range bonus difference ends up being over 80, which could even be the difference of being able to attack 1 round sooner and whatnot

Yeah, I fully agree that the 5% Siege range buff is a necessity. No question there. The main issue I was trying to point out here is that a lot of people don't realize or fully appreciate the trade-off they are making with civ gear. Let me put it like this: Does the 5% Siege range increase justify losing -15% Attack debuff for Ground, Mounted & Siege, as well as losing -55% Ranged Attack debuff? For me, the answer is no. To make it justifiable, the buffs gained must significantly outweigh what is lost. If the person had the full Koryo set, then yes, I'd agree that it is justified. If the person only had 1-2 Koryo pieces, then no, I don't think it is. After a certain level, defensive debuffs are incredibly hard to get. Now that we have a lot of options for civ gear choices, the important thing to do here is to look at what combinations of gear pieces that you can get (assuming that one is not willing to pay for the full koryo set 😅) to fill in those gaps. In my case, I combined the Koryo Bracers with Augustus pieces. That helped my plug the gaps lost with debuffs and also increased some of my buffs as well. After that, as I stated in the video, I just made adjustments with research and stuff, and all is good now 😇. Most people won't do that. Later down the line, if I manage to get the other Koryo pieces, then I'd re-evaluate things then. But with the way Evony is going now, no idea when that'd be 🤷‍♀️😅 As for your friend's rally, yeah, I remember that, I think I even have it recorded 😅😂

@@RedEvony yeah when looking at the report, when you rallied him he was already down to 1.1b, your rally only took 80m power from him and couldn't clear his t1 cavs lol. But you guys only had 5 in the rally and it was only a 7.7m troop rally. Your buff during this rally was less than 1200%, so he was able to debuff you fully without needing the Acha ring's 40% debuff. But yeah everything is circumstancial. I do think that if you are primarily just a t1 trap, not focusing on an other troops(other than just basic layers) and only focusing on t1 cav, then 6 piece acha is the way to go. If you are going for a higher siege amount, prepping for archer rallies or even siege rallies, then I do feel the koryo bracers are a must.

For a low level low power coiner you have a good point However should they have more power and specifically more siege the range bonus 5 percent difference will make them vulnerable to siege solos and rallies

I think gearing the assistant wall general is not a waste. For example I left my seige all in my castle during undead, they didn't break remained intact because of assistant general I had the courageous archemedae ring and skill book on the main wall general seige range bonus skill book...so that ring on the assistant helped in undead, so in a real situation out of undead the assistant gear will also work not a waste.

Yes, they do. The defending set gives you the set attribute, but the individual attributes on the blazons apply

The champions are a great souce of buffs and debuffs. I am surprised you don't have Helen to 20, I have her at 19, working on others at the moment. At level 5 she has +40 on City troops Defense and HP and attack. Level 20 gets a -20 debuff of all troops attacks. Esmeralda will be +60 when I get her to level 5.

Question.... What does the Honorary Knight (Permanent) in VIP Level 13 mean?

It means that Rank of “Knight” has been attained permanently. So even if your prestige rank should drop, the lowest rank you will have is Knight. In this case though, there’s only one rank below Knight, which is Civilian. So this Honorary rank doesn’t mean much 😂 You can get higher honorary ranks based on your vip level. Those would be more meaningful 👌

Here are the updated stats for the Koryo Bracers + Helmet GAINED Siege Range 5% Ground & Siege Attack 15% All Troop Defense 35% with additional Ground Defense 30% Ground HP 60% Mounted HP 30% Ground Defense Debuff -5% Ranged HP Debuff -25% LOST Mounted Attack 7% Ranged Attack 5% Ground HP Debuff -5% All Troop Attack Debuff -15% Ranged Attack Debuff -40% This certainly does make the situation look better, particularly the buffs to ground troops. However imo, the significant loss of debuffs still makes me feel like this is not a significant enougn improvement. Imo, debuffs are just that important. In addition, when you consider the difficulty and expensiveness of getting Civ gear, I feel like the advantage should be much clearer. Again, thanks for pointing that out

I disagree with you. the siege range is a must to defend against other siege bombs, The ground defense vs ranged attack debuff is a close trade. the -15 all attack and the +15 to your troops all attack is a close trade. the civ gear has higher percent refines. The 30 percent mounted buff means nothing to me as i use T1s with flats.

I agree with you that the siege range is a given. However imo, the ground defense vs ranged attack debuff is not a close call. Also, 15% All Troop attack buff v -15% All Troop attack debuff is not a close call either 😅. The debuffs are worth a lot more than you are giving them credit for. Even if they were close calls, that’s also not good. Considering how difficult and expensive it is to get even just 1 piece of civ gear, it should not be a close call 😅 Yes, you get 5% higher refines from the civ gear, but that only becomes valid if you can actually increase your refines by +5%, and to do that for all your refines 😅😅 Also remember that you pick the refined stats you want to keep, so you’d generally be looking to improve the refines you already have on you general’s gear, and that limit your options.

“Buffs are halfed” not debuffs. The logic is fine Civ gear has 5% higher refines, but that is subject to whether you can actually get +5% increase. In reality, most people will get less than that. Because of that conditionality, I intentionally left out refines in this video 👌

Well, both of you are right but looking from different perspective. Your buffs are most likely halved when you're defending and definitely halved when you're attacking. If I have full achae sets on all my sub gens, I won't really worry about the debuffs I lost on the wall gears. Making up with all the blazons, research, Helen and all doesn't mean you still aren't losing on the wall gear analysis though. Better % refine is the only distinct compensation you can have, and that's not cheap.

I have all my subs dressed up and the loss of that much debuffs is a big deal imo. Maybe I'm just stingy with debuffs 😅 but that's because I know how hard it is to get them. As for refining, yes, refining civ gear is VERY expensive. To give a rough estimate, it cost me over 900K gems 💎 on average to get one piece of civ gear refined. Also, all the refine stones I have saved up for months and months practically disappeared 😅😅 But my main issue with the refines is that, to avoid even further losses, you would largely have to mirror the stats you have on the achaemenidae pieces you are replacing, assuming the achaemenidae pieces already had decent refines. That means that you would likely not be able to use the refines to address the gaps created by the gear selection, even with the increased refining cap.

You seem to be misunderstanding the purpose of the video. Yes, the full Koryo set would cost about $6000 if you wanted to get it, but this video is not for people that have the full set. It’s for those that can manage to get 1 or 2 pieces, and to help them avoid making a mistake. Also, I don’t have the full Koryo set either 😉
