Another great video! It’s hard to get players to understand this concept, so nice to hear one of the top players on the planet explaining that she only hits at 60% power!!!

Hi Coach, I Just started playing singles again after a 24 year hiatus from tennis, I have been back a year now. When I started playing tennis again I started playing Doubles and I was very good at doubles, I have a lot more confidence in my knowledge of doubles! So I about a month ago I started playing singles again and I have had two hip replacements so I was moving that fast, but I lost 40 pounds in a year from training off your videos and Nick from Intuitive Tennis. So in about a month I have played about 8 sets of tennis I lost close sets and have won really close ones! I was thinking about quitting until I seen your video about you counting errors and what your plan was before the tie breaker, and I realized that I had no plan whatsoever when I played singles, I was just playing the game of tennis and just reacting to shots and playing with athleticism and running around with no plan for the match. I started to think about how I was going to attack the second serves and play more balls down the middle of the court. I also am going to use a slice serve and mix up my serves, I am also going to use the sets as practice sets and play comfortably and use more slices and placements. I think that if I keep a record of errors and winners I will be able to fix the strategies if things don’t work! My main goal is to move faster and anticipate the ball earlier. I also have a new racquet I ordered so it will be nice to play with a tennis Racquet that wasn’t made in 1990. Haha I love Profile 95s but it is time to retire them. Thanks Coach for the inspiration and good teaching my friend.

@@StokkeTennis I like doubles more because there’s more strategies and it’s fun trying not to get with overheads because you might have a partner who doesn’t lob well! Hahe I am getting faster which helps out in every aspect of the game my friend.

This can be applicable to an "approach" shot / coming into the net hit to a righty on their backhand corner. We don't need to hit a "10" = just a 7 or an 8. And if you get passed, don't get discouraged - just think of it in terms of probabilities. Most likely, you'll win a higher probability of these type of points in aggregate anyway.

The lottery ticket tip here is the two fast into one slow ball though. Something that simple, yet I've only thought about it the other way (fast and then faster). Hit with some players with 2 or more UTR ratings above me, felt I could hang in the neutral rally, then they just turn up the speed some % and I make a mistake. Never thought about going at it at a fast pace, then on purpose slow it down. Do think I need to practice my rally ball more. Tend to just adapt to my opponent, if they hit hard/fast I try to do the same. If they hit slow loopy balls I do the same.

There were several years where the hardest hitting player on tour by average groundstroke speed was Basilashvili. A good player, made it as high as 16 in the world, but never a threat to the top player’s in the big tournaments.

Amazing, i have a partner who is stubborn on this subject, wanting to hit the ball harder and harder but losing the point of being consistent, its so annoying. Btw, does this apply for the serve too? If i hit hard but my serve % is really low, i suppose i have to at least reduce the speed a little bit to try to find some rhythim
@StokkeTennis7 ай бұрын
It applies to serve too, although there are a lot of factors and variables that go into it.

It should not be about the cops. It should be about caring about other people. Speed kills. When you get in a car and drive it is now a loaded weapon that can kill somebody.
