@@hamiltonharper FROGG TOGGS makes a cheap, light, reliable & easily packable rain jacket. Called the Xtreme Light waterproof breathable rain jacket. Costs about $30.00. And it has zippered pockets & two indose large pockets! Can't beat it...I love mine!

@@jonbassett8023 thanks for the recommendation, but I've tried those and they get torn to shreds here in the Montana bush. I am currently using a North Face lightweight rain jacket which is pretty good and durable. For serious bushwhacking I will do Fjalraven pants and jacket but I wouldn't do an overnight trip in those due to their weight. Might go with a Helium 2 if I can't find an ultralight upgrade this year

And bonus info: The collapsible cup from Sea to Summit fits perfectly on top of the Toaks 750. So it's basically just like an extra thick lid. And if you use the little orange bag the Toaks comes in, it actually fits outside of the mug on top of the Toaks. Then you'll always know where that mug is :)

Thank U!!!!!! THANK U!!!! By far, the best video I've watched so far that goes into detail about backpacking gear. Out of the 100s & 100s videos out there, your video is explicit to the: what, when, where, why, and how. Finally, it is a video that makes sense and gives a foundation to build from. Great job, and thank you again for making this video!!!!!

More to add on the quilt: Don't skimp on quilt width if you're large or are an active sleeper - 60" wide is worth it. Also, a fully enclosed and insulated foot box is warmer than a cord-closed footbox.

@jays7318 Жыл бұрын
Also, in colder temperatures (near or below freezing), having side elastics / dynamic tensioning is well worth the small added cost & weight. It ensures drafts don't occur even more. UGQ and a couple of other manufacturers offer this.

Great suggestions and a very solid list. I agree on the addition of a chair, and that Flextail pump is an awesome, dual-use addition. A couple extra ounces but super useful after a long day of hiking. I started with an ultra minimal setup, but over time learned that adding in a pound of two of comfort items really makes a huge difference in the overall enjoyment of being outdoors.

I have to admit that for comfort camping this video has a lot of great options. And like everyone knows, the top three are the most important things to have. Backpack, sleeping bag and pad because getting a good nights sleep. Just makes your camping and hiking trips that much more enjoyable. Quilts are great, but my Big Anges Park series sleeping bag. Does everything and more with the same type of options. Pockets to put a pillow and it has the same type of pockets underneath it for a sleeping pad. I also prefer the Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow Premium Large over some of the others I have tried. That with a heating pad Flannel cover I found, just makes the perfect setup for Ultimate comfort. I still don't understand why people are spending so much on a portable high back camping chair. I found a "Shallwe" brand that weighs the same as the Trekology or the Helinox. For less than half the price and it has the exact same design if not better than the competition. And at just 2 pounds it is definitely worth the price.

I can't get behind that yellow or the green of that REI Flash 55. If they're going to go with that strong and deep of a yellow its gotta be 2 tone with yellow being the secondary color. If the bag was black or blue with yellow brain and side pockets yellow for example.

For a light, I love using Nite Ize micro lantern. It's a little bigger than the thermodrop you have. I have it clipped to the ridgeline of my hammock and I leave it there.
