Thank you so much for this presentation. Having recently undergone a TURBT procedure and subsequent consultation with my urologist, I am hopeful that bladder preservation is possible after the information provided herein. Now waiting for my consultation with the oncologist...

I have just recently been told that I have a "large tumor" in my bladder and I am very nervous. Now I am all over the internet learning about bladder cancer and treatment. I don't know if I have cancer and it has been over two months since I found out about the tumor. I don't understand why, in Oklahoma where I am, it takes so very long to move on a tumor discovery. I have been told that in Oklahoma the general attitude of doctors when a tumor or even diagnosed cancer has been diagnosed, is hurry up and wait. I am very scared by this attitude, is anyone else going through an apathetic medical industry? Yes, I said industry on purpose.

You were told you have a tumour 2 months ago and haven't heard anything since? My God that doesn't sound right, have you spoken to your doctor at all? I recently recovered from bladder cancer and can't really offer much advice without knowing more about what kind of tumour you have as in is it aggressive, has it penetrated the bladder wall etc. The only thing I can tell you is that 99% of tumours found in the bladder sadly are cancer, it just really depends on how long it's been there, and what type of cancer it is. As I've said you really shouldn't have been left for 2 months after the tumour was found with no info and if I were you I would be ringing your doctor and the hospital and demanding to know what's happening as the sooner you begin treatment the better the outcome will be. What I will say is that as long as it hasn't spread most bladder cancer is very treatable and most people recover. I wish you well and please don't hesitate to ask for advice from anyone including me.

How can a urologist be unaware that patients would prefer to keep their bladders? Maybe spend more than 30 seconds with them in the exam room?
