I usually knock on the side of the can to get an idea of the weight of it. If it's a dead blunt knock then it probably heavy.

Looking back would you still choose a hook lift over the cable system? I see Republic and Waste Management using the cable systems here, I was just curious to see if one was more superior than the other. Thank you in advance love your videos

I’ve found you can articulate situations in your favor a little easier with a cable setup. I like both but if I were buying a truck... I would go cable.

After working with both kinds, i would take the cable. Hook lift is awesome in tight spots if you need to spot the box like a trailer, the driver can go about 30* angle like a trailer while picking or dropping... As long as it is perfectly straight when box contacts the truck rails. But no choice how high the front of the box goes up when pulling it on truck. If theres lots of junk above the box, it might slide off the back. Cable lift can bring the rails down, get the box rollers to just clear the fenders. Get under those low residential house wires and large tree branches. I"ve been at it for about 10 years. I had to put boxes inside a garage, under a conveyor loading system with the hook lift. Put the box exactly on spot all day long. Cable lift, get the back rollers down on the ground and drive the truck out from under the box

@@LaRobertos ..im told that from the landfill..my company...ehh not so much.. i work for a small company.. ( im the only roll off driver for 5 years) but i stay very busy..50 to almost 70 hours a week... but my dispatcher has the IQ of a hollow potato.. (family hire) 😬.. my heaviest was 93,000 lbs. across scale ..of puppy poo from an Amish puppy mill in Arthur illinois..lol..it was a load OF CRAP im tellin ya!😁😆😆🤣 currently im doing loads of old wood block from the the old Donnelley's factory in Mattoon.. about 60,000 lbs. across scale. state limit is 55,000 ..after i talked to em and i got it to about 55,500 avg.. but still too much..lol
