Malaysia overall is very safe and even the few scammers don't annoy you a lot. They leave you when you tell them. I read in the internet about the WOUND scam and seems it's really a scam. We have some different scams in Russia too, but here in Malaysia they are a bit exotic to me hehe. But again, Malaysia is really feels safe so you can walk at night no problem. 0:00 The WOUND SCAM 1:30 Good Taxi Driver 2:52 B$$M-B$$M offer 5:13 Holy Man SCAM?

I guess Pakistani think that they are being ignored since the current ones wanted alive are Indonesia, Bangladesh, Rohingya and Vietnamese. So they decide to be in the list also. Well Pakistani asked for it and we shall grant their request. Time to add Pakistan to the wanted list.

These scammers are not Malaysian who generally don't do that. These scammers are foreigners, that is why they tried their hands on foreigners who cannot distinguish locals or illegal/migrants/foreigners.

I've had the holy man scam happen in Bangkok. The guy told me he knew my Mother's name and Birthday. I just told him 'so do I' and walked off.

As a Msian living in Tloh I see the same tactic being used to ask for money. I offered to buy him lunch but when he insisted on me giving cash I knew he’s a scammer

The scammer's accent doesn't sound local. The fact that he approached another foreigner goes to show that he knows he can't go after locals because locals know his trick. Never fall for scams. The "African girls" "flood" only started a few years back. Prior to that, there were more girls from neighbouring countries. Your observation of that neighbourhood is not wrong. If you want to see greener cities/towns... try other cities/towns. I dare say Miri is a green city.
