I'm currently making a spreadsheet that you can program in required goods output, and it will tell you how many stations you'll need for the production chain (taking assembly blocks & levels into account) I've almost worked out the bugs, and I've currently got in excess of 300 stations in 1 sector producing and selling almost every good in the game :D

I havent played Avorion in a couple updates and was curious to what was new and best practices. Much of what I learned I didnt know or found anywhere else, especially when it came to setting up intra-sector transport of good to dependent stations. Very nice and Thanks. Cheers

There is a mod called station balancing which (among other things) can tell you at how much capacity your station is running and how much more production capacity you need. Keep in mind that if you have a station without any production capacity, you need to add 100 to that number (by default, stations get a base production capacity of 100/s, just like ships get a base generated energy of 500mw. Except it isnt actually mentioned in the stations stats). If you have the option of using a mod, you can quickly turn this one on to get the required numbers for your stations and then turn it back off. It beats counting and guessing ^^

The problem I face is that I have to take the base game as is and work with it and try and show what it all means. I don't show mods in beginner guides because they are most likely playing without mods. However you gave me an idea to do a mod review so I will look into this one and others to see what will be useful. Thank you for comment I can tell you have a wealth of knowledge!!

I initially purchased stations from the shipyard with a captain, but after setting up the station I kicked out the (expensive) captains and they appear to still be functioning

I got into a habit of setting up stations with captains for the supply chain side of things, It's harder to find a captain when you need them.

you need a captain if you want to use the transporter software to supply your stations. You can also use it to add some combat fighters to a station and have an automated defense force (you will have a bunch of processing capacity anyway. Might as well produce fighters in parallel).

Well, the option at 24:50 with designign your own cargo vessel and let them buy and sell doesnt work anymore. I dont have these buy and sell options in the game.

Is it really worth it though? It's literally multiple millions and hundreds of thousands of outcome with captains and salary and buying what you don't have but need for what, 1.5k WORTH per second? This must be a good way to make money but numbers doesn't add up. I am really new to this game, gotta need some advise.

Building stations is a time and money sink. Something you do later on in the game if you want to. Late game you will have more money than you know what to do with it. Return on investment seems low at first but you will make your money back at some point in the game.

@@justpette1503 oh yeah for sure. Just by setting up mines as you play through will start this snow ball affect. Most ppl start to build a home base in the centre but you can build anywhere really as long as there is a demand.

@@gary0073 Well, I currently made about 5 miners with 4 mining lasers and one miner upgrade so they can mine up to naonite and think it's doing pretty alright right now. Although I really wanted to establish an empire and by that I mean crafting and producing almost everything myself to supply my own ships and fleet, affraid I can't :(
