An automatic voltage regulator (AVR) is a device used in generators with the purpose of automatically regulating voltage, which means that it will turn fluctuating voltage levels into constant voltage levels.
How do I select AVR for my generator?
The AVR depends on the manufacturer of your generator. On this page the AVR's are listed by manufacturer and then by model. If you know the manufacturer, you can click on the link below. If not you can scroll down and view the images and see which AVR if the type you require
R250 is an analog AVR with power controled by transistors. It is designed for
small alternators with a SHUNT excitation.
R250 controls the excitation current in order to maintain the output voltage of
the alternator. R250 is performant in terms of voltage regulation, simple to set,
to use and is reliable.
Settings are done through the AVR.
• Potentiometer P1: voltage setting
• Potentiometer P2: stability setting
• Strap ST3: frequency selection
• Jumper: frequency, U/F function,
LAM function
• Potentiometer ST4: remote voltage

Hi i have this R250 AVR on a fg wilson p- 65kw generator it cames from factory with 120/240 volts im goin to change the wiring configuration on the alternator to have 220/440 volts, do you know if thise AVR can handle thise votage configuration or if i need to remplace this with other model for avoid some damage ? Thanks

When the output voltage is not up to the nominal voltage of 415V but 335V, I think it is one or two of the diodes that is or are bad? Or possibly the AVR itself is bad.
