This very beautiful British Aerospace Avro RJ70, M-STRY, is seen taking-off at Bern. This aircraft is registered to the Formula One Management Ltd and belongs to Bernie Ecclestone. The veteran F1 chief has been given the honorary position of Chairman Emeritus of Formula 1.

Its a great little aircraft, flew on a few of them between birmingham and dublin. Allways remembered how great the wheel brakes were as they had no reverse thrust!

Steve Logan It is my favourite aircraft as you may know. I love the BAe 146 (later Avro RJ) especially this small version. It is the British racing green. The aircraft is owned by former Formula One boss. Oh cool you are Irish. My wife and I spent some hiking holidays in Ireland. Once in Donegal, once in Connemara and also Dingle Kerry. The weather was often very sunny - true!

I do wish the aircraft manufacturer would modify the BAe 146 / Avro RJ, by removing the four engines and refitting with two of the more powerful ( and fuel efficient ) current turbo fans. Would give the Dash 8 400 and ATR 400 a good run of the money for the commuter Airlines.. What say you mr DJ Aviation..?

Hey Matt, or anyone else on here, know how many pounds of thrust that just one of those engines produce ?, i am not that familiar with Avro, and it may just be me, but that looks like some serious thrust for the size of that jet.

Hi Steve. it is around 6,990 lbf (31.1 kN) per engine. I love this Britsh made aircraft. It is dying out now. In the 80s it was a super modern jet. But nowadays it is very expensive with four engines and high fuel consumption. Two engined jets are much more efficient now.

Matt's Aviation Channel ty Matt, i believe i told you in a previous post that i majored in aviation in college appx. 37 yrs ago, and one of my uncles( who is still alive in his 90's and can walk around with a cane) anyway, he is a retired v.p. from general electrics R&D aviation division and i had somewhat of an inside track on the GE90 engine long before most. The carriers had long ago mentioned their interest in fuel consumption and savings, even before the price of oil and fuel increased as to what it is today.
