My hat is off to the museum crew for all the hard work. Maintaining that airplane would be a full time job not withstanding the other aircraft in the collection. I noted the radiator flaps were left closed and this may explain the steam from #1 and 4.

i was privileged to be an airframe tech in the RAF when the old tail draggers were still in service, we frequently got detachments from 8 squadron in 6 ship formations based with us for exercises. I used to love hearing them do the mag drops at the end of the runway before take off then opening up the Griffins to max chat and taking off one after the other SUPERB! Marshalling them was difficult as the pilot couldnt see you in a tail dragger, also when ever we first handled a Shack we were told NOT to stare at the contra rotating props as they are hypnotic! I came down many times to see Peter. The last time I was told he had left us, I was arranging a tanker of waste avgas to refuel Juliet :((( FINALLY I see that the aircraft are under cover!! What happened to the other aircraft there used to be 2?? I THINK I have video of Juliet with all 4 running back in 1998 ish somewhere I must upload it. Guys how old is the AVGAS in the tanks and when did she last have water drains done? Bad misfire on 3 :(((

Me too. The last time i saw a Shackleton flying was in Cyprus. One of these planes made a low pass over me while I was swimming with my mates somewhere along the panhandle. It was a sight to see. What a plane. Good luck
