I dont know of any other coach in pro sports who handles the media with this much class. Never dodges a question, but always answers with careful wording and as much honesty as he can afford. I can only imagine he treats his players with the same if not more respect. Regardless of how bad things get he will be our guy for the job.

Oh yeah, he's safe. Team is better than this, but that's not necessarily on him. This isn't a guy that lost the room or nothing. Only thing I'd have done is play the 3rd and 4th lines more the last two games, by a lot, they've been great. But you get why he'd want to get the big guys going.

Georgiev is really a underrated goalie, it just really suck that the way he’s playing, that’s the reward he gets. If we come back and win the series, it will be fantastic, but based by how the Avs are playing, it pretty much over, fucking suck that people like Georgiev and Zach don’t get to lift lord Stanley one time this year.

I have a 40 year old stepson who goes through addiction cycles and it is heartbreaking every time he falls. I know we have people upset over the playoffs, but it’s not like he woke up one day and said, “I think I want to put myself, family, teammates, and fans through hell today.” He’s a fallible human battling demons I don’t wish on my worst enemy. I hope he gets the help he needs to get the upper hand and support structure to keep it because it’s easy to fall again without it. Prayers big guy, we will all back check for you.

Hopefully this is his rock bottom. I really don't care that he let the team down. I really don't even though he totally did. I just hate to see human beings struggling so much with addiction. It's a much bigger problem than losing out in the playoffs in any sport at any level. They aren't in the foxhole together sacrificing their lives to fight for our future. They are playing a flippin game.

Walker looked frozen. Everyone looked like .75x speed. A sludge… really sad play. Totally lost confidence from their play this series.. Everyone knows Val is a top guy both ways. One of the very best two way players. He’s grown so much here. And it sucks to see this happen to him. But shit happens. Kinda expect to happen more often in pro sports but thankfully it doesn’t. No one knows what he’s going through but him a his family. Ever have a friend of family member go though similar you know it’s super tough. Hope he’s ok, but the team has to move on. It’s time to sign Drouin.

I like Bednar not using Val as an excuse, but it is not the same as an injury. Getting that news in pre-game skate isn't the same as knowing a player has an injury. This was a self inflicted thing that the other players have to be upset about. Hope Val as a person gets the help he needs, but as an organization they have to be done with him now.

@@TheHotmitch I don't think he's a shitty individual. I think he's addicted. I have met some of the most beautiful souls get buried under addiction while some nasty narcissists incapable of sincere compassion or love go through life competing and crapping on everybody around them and think they are better only because they are more motivated to be disciplined. But don't get me wrong. I don't pity Val. Only he can decide to make a difference in his life and he really needs to for the sake of the people that care for him and rely on him, which is a lot of people. No matter what pains or struggles someone is going through, addiction is still ultimately selfish indulgence that is self destructive. Hopefully this is his rock bottom.

Not saying Val is not responsible for his own decisions, but let’s not pretend that having a substance abuse problem means you don’t care about your team. In fact, many athletes develop addictions to painkillers because they’re so committed to their teams that they’re unwilling to take time off to recover from injuries

I'm just curious if he tested positive for trace amounts of a performance enhancing substance which has been totally unintentional by athletes before. But guessing from the reaction of some of the teammates, they don't believe that to be the case. Does seem like they believe it to be something like coke. I'm sorry, but I'm quite disgusted with the Avalanche from Bednar to Chris McFarland, to the health coaches, to the players. This team has under performed all year, losing games to teams that are in a complete rebuild, go look at coming out of the All-Star break. This team has a problem with staying healthy, and competing consistently. The entire stringing along of Landy, the Kiviranta experiment, to trading Byrum for Middlestadt that has been an ABSOLUTE disaster of a player. Bednar not changing up lines to try something different to the Johanssan disasterous trade, to NOT getting a backup goalie. Every fan should apologize to MacKinnon because they are WASTING his years. Where is the heart, the desire, and desire to win. The Avs have had equally the talent that Tampa had in their rise, and its been an exit in Round 1 and now a complete meltdown against the Stars... Finally, what in god's name is going on with staying healthy, I've never seen in all my years the absolute horrid conditioning by this strength training on this team. Every dang year this team has massive injuries or starting 6, bottom 6 players out of the line up for gobs of time. I get it, injuries happen, but geezus what in god's name is this teams individuals doing to compete. Never led in the series, never scored the first goal, no back up goalie, players going into REHAB, Hey Joe Sakic - You might want to take inventory of this team's vision, heart and desire because this is pathetic. Yes, an AV's fan for decades, in fact, I watched the Colorado Rockies before they moved to NJ and became the Devils, and Yes, watched the Av's ever since they moved from Quebec to Denver. Absolutely disgusting past 2 years in the playoffs.
