Nagas were there before Adi Shankaracharya. He merely reorganized them. Earlier some Naga sadhus were followers of Lord Dattatreya whose centre is Girnar Parvat in Gujarat. Nagas are organized into 10 Akharas (Dasnama ). Further divided into Giri, Puri, Bharati and Saraswati.

The food diet depends on Ayurved. Satvik, Rajsik, Tamasik. Ppl who are into only using brain or indulged in mental jobs and not physical work are always advised to have Satvik. Let protien and more brain and memory enhancing food. It also helps the body to digest food with ease. While Soldiers and people who indulged in rigorous physical work was advised to consume meat or fish coz body needs more protein. And if people talk abt canine teeth. Monkey has canine teeth. Gorillas have canine teeth. We need canine teeth to tear into sugarcane or carrot or apple or guava etc. there are many hard food that needs canine teeth. Humans have always been omnivorous. Even before humans learnt abt agriculture, as hunter and gatherer they ate wild fruits.
