Ai's death will always be Aqua's fault in his mind. A man's duty is to protect his family and even if there was nothing his four year old body could have done, logic doesn't enter into it. To fail at that duty is to have a hole torn in your soul and the way his eye is filled with darkness instead of light represents how powerful a grip all the negative emotions surrounding Ai's death have on him. He plans to fill that hole by digging two graves, but hopefully he'll realize that he's actually digging three graves and he'll give up on his need for vengeance to keep Ruby from getting buried too.

while i think it was scummy for aqua to go behind his sister's back to turn her down, that he ultimately feared ruby having the same fate as her mother i can see why he worries for her. as for underground idols, also known as chika idols, it's one of the means by which idols are still around, but the biggest concern that parents tend to have is that so many that come and go are typically indeed poorly managed - that one idol who aqua tried to scout pretty much spoke the truth. that said, "live your own life" is easier said than done, especially for his circumstances.
