I think this was an episode that was subject to censorship as well. I believe Hiyori was supposed to actually be cut in half by Gins attack, which was the reason for the panic from the other Vaizards. Mashiro having a timer of 15 hours was just when they asked her to stop, they thought she could maintain her mask indefinitely.

[Tidbits & Clarifications] - "My mask feels heavier" All ways came across as add-on to the whole not accepting himself theme. Usually the phrase of people "wearing a mask" refers to them putting on an act or in some way no being their true self. In this case ichigo seems to really really hate that part of himself so it'd be harder to put on the act or "that mask", which is why I believe the mask is stated to be "heavier". - In Kluboutside we learn that Ichigo's hollow mask is actually supposed to look the same as it did when he became a full Hollow, but he's afraid of his power and of himself, so his mask is incomplete, it doesn't have the horns or hair. - Mashiro Hollowfication can in fact last for 15 hours, the fact that it didn't isn't meant to raise a brow - Hiyori's damage is extremely censored here in the anime, in the manga she's actually split in half.

I was cheering when you were yelling at Hiyori to "Just die already!" That bratty kid has annoyed me from the start! And it always bothered me that (almost) all the Arrancar characters are wiped out but not a single Soul Reaper has died in this arc so far.

I remember when I was younger and watching both Naruto and Bleach. Naruto stayed on top for the sole reason of having some good guys die, Bleach on the other hand has no suspense or stakes because no good guy dies, it becomes kinda comical. The thousand year war arc at least remedies that a little bit.

The thing is that the production behind this anime, at those times, needed to drag a lot of scenes so they wouldn´t catch up with the manga, and they do it by adding new anime original moments or extending dialogues in the middle of some "manga canon" scenes. Naruto also suffered of this, but with Naruto was easier because it has short arcs where they can put filler between them, while as you can see, Bleach has a really long Arrancar arc with non-stop events. I understand the pacing is unbearable at moments, but when you reach certain climax points of the story, you feel that the wait was payed off (In my case, I really enjoy the crazy plot twist Bleach is always giving us). Thanks for being honest with your reactions! Good luck and keep up with it.

In the manga you can clearly see Hiyori being cut in half with her lower side flying behind her back after she attacked Aizen, unfortunately the anime aged really poorly coz of the censorship and diluted long ass episodes and then you have TYBW that has the opposite problem... 🤦

Until you sat through the arancar and watched the Fullbring Arc that’s right after this arc. You will definitely love new gen tybw bleach. I understand your frustration with nobody dying on our side but Aizens people are the only ones being killed. Hiyori beating on Ichigo wasn’t funny at all despite the music saying otherwise. Hiyori needed a snickers because Ichigo just wanted to keep his hollow act together and she didn’t have to be a jerk to him. You see the other vizards previously were looking at her like “Calm down” Ichigo can be patient but it has limits when you take forever to get the point lol

I think she is going to hate the next arc without aizen hahahah Good guys or very pupular characters don't die in bleach, Sorry. Thinking about it better, with the new arc of hell no one really dies, just go from one world to another lol. But well, that had already been explained from the beginning, souls only pass from one world to another, the hollows were human and are purified and sent to the soul society or hell. It is assumed that the only ones who completely destroy the soul are the quicys.

hollows are actually a very sad concept, they're meant to be souls that are unable to pass over to another world and eventually become hollows, their name basically describes what they are, "hollow", without purpose and full of despair who wander around here and there feeding off other souls. I think this is why they followed Aizen because he gave them a purpose and as an arrancar already said in the show, for being born out of fear and despair, they admired Aizen's lack of fear and despair. I believe the world Aizen wanted to create after completing his invasion would have no hollows and soul reapers.

Regarding soul-destruction, I have always questioned what happens to the souls of Plusses or Shinigami that are devoured by Hollows (or when Hollows are devoured by other Hollows)? What happens to the devoured souls? If the Hollow is purified by a Shinigami how many souls are delivered to Soul Society? Just the Hollow? Or the Hollow and all its individual victims? And how does it count toward the balance of souls?
