So few people catch that and think Draven’s ‘cheating’ or ‘being cheap’ (even then it’s his arena and she’s a prisoner of war what rules are there) but it’s literally the opposite.

What I always like about the scene is that they're both clearly enjoying the fight, too. Draven is, clearly, but Riven's little smile after the headbutt points to a certain level of satisfaction as well.

Yes to both. 3:15 is the girl from the runeterra cinematic, her name is Akali. 3:19 is Karma, she is kind of a spiritual guide / priestress to her people.

Riven is my absolute favorite champion! Her design is just so cool and she's fun to play, although I haven't played league in YEARS. It's cool seeing you make your way through all these cinematics, brings back memories. I used to be obsessed with league 😅

At last got to one of the season cinematics! They are pretty amazing. The chained up girl is Riven and her backstory is pretty interesting. These season cinematics in recent years depict pieces of runeterras lore. Since they do have music instead of dialogue it is not as easy to grasp the entire story unless you have read plenty of League of Legends Lore but they are great even without understanding. They do follow the theme of the lyrics of course as you interpreted. Valerie Broussard(the singer) did a really amazing job performing this song in the Worlds opening ceremony the year this season cinematic came out, though it was shorter than the 2 songs after it. They used holograms in that ceremony, it was pretty cool how they adapted that technology for it!

There is probably a ton of videos you still have planned for LoL I'm sure, but if you do end up getting to the Worlds opening ceremonies, I definitely recommend checking out the documentary/making of video they released for that world ceremony in particular. It makes me nervous/stressed along with them during the whole planning and setup 😬

Jhin (masked piano guy) bowing before Camille (knife leg robot girl) is the most beautiful piece of art I've ever seen. Knowing Jhins lore and how he's a psychopath serial killer who only cares about making "beautiful art" (in his crazy mind). The feel of him missing every shot and the admitting defeat with a bow of respect while things are blowing up making a beautiful canvas for us as a viewer to watch is just amazing. I get goose bumps every time that scene comes up. Love it

The funniest thing is that Jhin isn't bowing with respect for Camille as you think he is. Jhin fires 3 shots and misses Camille, the 4th one, his strongest, is actually hidden around his back so he is aiming at Camille.

The girl in red actually IS in the Ruination/Sentinel of Light event. She was the blade dancer the narrator Akshan mentioned. Her name is Irelia.

Here's a character lore dump i've posted elsewhere if you're interested :) Jhin, The Virtuoso - a psychopathic serial killer who believes murder is art. His murders are meticulously planned for a dramatic and horrifying finale. He also has a real obsession with the number 4 (count how many shots he fires during the cinematic as he bows to take his last shot, since his 4th shot is always the most powerful and dramatic). He is from Ionia, the "Asian inspired" lands, but it does seem in this cinematic that he has made his way to Piltover/Zaun and drawn the attention of... Camille, The Steel Shadow - the principal intelligencer of Clan Ferros, an extremely wealthy and influential clan among the ruling elite of Piltover, Camille is essentially the power behind the scenes of Clan Ferros. Heavily augmenting her body with Hextech implants, to the point that many wonder if she is more machine than human, Camille operates with with a sharp, precise efficiency as she runs her espionage and covert operations to ensure her clans dealings run smoothly. Draven, The Glorious Executioner - Draven is a Noxian, who is the brother of Darius (the guy with the big axe you've seen in A New Dawn cinematic). Like alot of Noxians, they were recruited into the Noxian warmachine at a young age but where Darius took to military life and command quite well, Draven was far more loose in his discipline. Still, both brothers quickly rose through the ranks but where Darius would eventually end up in the highest levels of Noxian command, Draven felt himself drawn to the gladiatorial pits known as The Reckoning Pits where criminals and political prisoners duel it out in a chance to earn their freedom (or die) while also providing entertainment to the Noxian citizens. Clearly bored with the substandard display on offering, a far more worthy opponent seems to take his interest... Riven, The Exile (the woman with the white hair) - Once a swordmaster in the warhosts of Noxus, Riven rose through the ranks on the strength of her conviction and brutal efficiency, and was rewarded with a legendary runic blade and a warband of her own. However, during the Noxus invasion of Ionia, Riven's faith in her nation was tested and ultimately broken after Noxus unleashed an indiscriminate chemical warfare attack that devastated both her warband and the Ionian forces. Left clinging to life, the sole survivor due to the magical properties of her Rune Blade, she deserted and fled into the Ionian countryside. Seeking to atone for her actions in the war and dealing with the trauma of the war, she attempted to destroy her blade, shattering it into pieces (but with its magic still intact, and it can even reform itself), before eventually being taken in an old farmer who had lost both his sons in the war. She knows Noxus will one day come looking for her and her (now shattered) blade, and take her back to Noxus for judgement. Irelia, The Blade Dancer - as a teenager, Irelia was a dancer training in the traditional silk dances of her grandmother. She was away at the Placidium (the spiritual capital of Ionia) learning from the masters of the dance when the Noxus invasion began. Returning home to her village, she found it under Noxus occupation - and her entire family dead for having protested. A rhythm deep in her soul called to her in that moment, as Noxian soldiers were looting her home and she found the shattered remains of her family's crest responding to her call - magically flying to her command and with the rhythm of ancient magical dance moving through her she cut down the invading troops before fleeing the village. Still but a teenager, she soon found herself at the head of the Ionian Resistance movement and using her blade dancing skills they began an insurgency against the occupying Noxus forces. A pivotal battle at the Placidium was the turning point of the war, where Irelia confronted the Noxian General, Swain, and defeated him causing a route of the Noxian forces and a massive morale victory for the Ionians. Still it would take years of fighting before the Ionian's would be able to push the Noxian's out of their homeland. Now, with the fragile balance of the lands utterly disrupted by the devastation of the Noxian Invasion and in-fighting emerging among the various Ionian factions and the threat of a second Noxus invasion still lingering, Irelia finds herself a leader of sorts, albeit a very reluctant and uneasy one due to the nature of her actions during the war. Sion, The Undead Juggenaut - A brutal warlord from a long ago era, Sion was denied death by a secretive cabal of Noxian sorcerers known as the Black Rose. Kept safely locked away in a suspended state deep underneath The Bastion (the massive fortified city that is the capitol of Noxus - you can see a painting of The Bastion that Mel did in Arcane S1), Sion is brought out and re-animated in times of need to serve as a brutally effective front line juggernaut for the Noxian Armies - essentially just being transported to the frontlines, awoken and pointed in the general direction of the enemy before being put back to suspended animation at the end of the, inevitably successful, attack. The Awaken cinematic appears to be depicting a long feared second invasion of Ionia, with Irelia leading the defense of a village against an army spearheaded by Sion. Luckily, she has back up of some other Ionian champions who make some cameos at the end: Karma, The Enlighted One - the woman who shields Irelia. Karma is the spiritual leader of Ionia, a sort of Dalai Lama like figure whose soul is reincarnated into a new body on death. Karma you saw in the Ruination cinematic as one of the characters that Viego was attempting to possess. Akali, The Rogue Assassin - the ninja woman with the smoke bombs. Abandoning the Kinkou Order after the Kinkou pledged neutrality following the Noxian invasion, Akali now strikes alone against the enemies of Ionia. Her former master was Shen, who you saw in the Ionian Legends of Runeterra cinematic back when she was still in the Kinkou Order. Yasuo, The Unforgiven - the warrior with the wind power. Yasuo, and his brother Yone, are who you've seen in the Kin of the Stained Blade cinematic. Kennan, The Heart of the Tempest - A Yordle, who's a long standing member of the ancient Kinkou Order in Ionia who work to maintain the balance between the material and spiritual realms.

My favorite characters in this cinematic to play as are Jhin (piano guy) and Sion (massive guy that was taking on 5 different people) Sion not dying after 5v1ing is very realistic to gameplay btw LOL

So - this was probably the first big lore cinematic and a lot of these are still very relevant to the lore today. It follows three stories so I am gonna try to describe all three for short though there are actual lore texts about it: The Opera - The "Phantom" here is Jhin - an Ionian serial killer and genius. He moved over to Piltover to create his "art" which did not pass by Camille who is basically the Piltover spec-ops leader - or at least of one of the council families - the Ferros family. One thing to point out is that Jhin is obsessed with the number four (a number which in several asian languages symbolises death) and thus he always focuses on the number - he fired three shots here and is saving the last "killing blow" for after the bow (Which is also reference to his ultimate "Curtain's Call") The Arena - This is the Fleshing Arena in Noxus - where Draven is a champion and is incredibly bored with the performance until Riven shows up. In Noxus criminal are punished by fighting to death in an arena and if they live, Draven is there to finish the job (long story short). She is a former Noxian soldier who deserted after witnessing some warcrimes, breaking her super powerful Runic Windblade in an act of rebellion. Eventually she is captured and put in the arena. When she deals with the arena fighters, Draven tosses her broken sword back to her, breaking her chain in the process so she can fight him for real. One nice detail is that behind Riven in the stands opposite to where Draven was, you can see three figures. They are the leaders of Noxus - Swain, Pale Lady and Darius. Daruis is Draven's brother and can be seen cheering for him. While the other two stand stoic. The War - This is the second invasion of Ionia. Noxus is attacking and facing them is Irellia and her Navori Brotherhood - which is basically made up of people willing to put up arms against invaders (Most Ionians are incredibly pacifistic and would never do that). She uses special magic dance descended in her family to make her blades float - this is why her combat style is so elegant. She eventually gets knocked down by Sion, a reanimated Noxian warrior who is basically a walking battering ram. Before he can split her in half, Karma and Akali come back her up while Yasuo and Kennen lap up the rest of the enemies.

3:21 yes he's everywhere and it's cringe 🤦‍♂, most overused, shoved down our throats character in the history of league cinematics, they could've easily used any other ionian champ that hasn't made an appearance yet for that scenario, but no let's use yasuo for the N-th time and also use him for the next and the next... even with that crap on my cake I have to say the cinematics are a net positive and good thing they exist to give life to the lore.

The Attack on Titan champion is named Camille, the head of house Ferros, a powerful family in her city-state. She has augmented herself (blade legs) so is much older than she looks. There is a reference/easter egg for her in Arcane that most people miss, even most LoL players, I wonder if you'll catch it.

She’s not the head of her house her brother actually is she’s instead the head enforcer of her house. Basically her family has their own private ‘police’ force and she’s the leader of that but the overall clan leader is her brother.
