Hearing this song really reminds me that there are so many other believers that experience the same pain, loss, and sense of hopelessness. So many moments i had ignorantly brushed off things like anxiety and depression, claiming that those that experienced these things just needed to understand how good God is. But boy was I so far off from the truth. It’s so much more than knowing, but it’s about understanding and ACCEPTING that God wants to save you in every situation. If he sent his perfect son to die for the world while we were yet sinners, how heavy do you imagine his desire to release the salvation is? Do you think he would withhold the whole his goodness from our bad situations if those situations are the very thing he came to crush? It’s so real that he brings color to EVERY SINGLE THING you let him grab hold of. He did it for YOU. I’ve learned that God loves you so much that he created you so that you could experience his love even though he knew you would face really hard times in your life. That means he weighs his love GREATER than pain we feel, even though it feels otherwise when we take our eyes off Jesus. The same furious love that calms that storm calms my heart and mind everyday. I’ve learned we can’t physically get into our mind and reset it. Only the Holy Spirit can change the inside. It’s a spiritual battle, and it goes beyond self help. But thank Thank GOD that he LOVES YOU SO MUCH AND HE WONT EVER WITHHOLD HIMSELF FROM YOU. Just cry out. Just cry out and know that he rescues you every moment.

I’ll trie this again as my iPad went flying off my bed and sent a half finished manuscript . I watched the video “ Awakening “ this evening and read Jackie’s reply and I am just now catching my breath from both ! I am very much and taking this journey on a completely different level as in hearing , feeling , seeing all from a calmer place . When I say this time I’m referring to my up bringing as Roman Catholic with all its legalism and formalities. Even with that sternness of upbringing I fell off coarse and stayed that way up until about four years ago . At that time I couldn’t trust anyone or any thing as PTSD would block it all . I finally had to leave the city and get some fresh air and ground myself (again) . So ya this new journey for myself is completely different as I think ,read and saw that I am in good company knowing that Jackie and the video are testaments that I’m not alone with all that was, and yes I know I’m never been alone as in footprints, just saying . I heard you have to go threw it to get to it so that’s what I feel I’m doing , trudging along with my head down and my ass up just like the Buffalo they keep going threw the blizzard knowing there is green grass at the other end . Thank you Amanda for the video and all it encompasses ! And Jackie thank you so much for sharing . You are very articulate and well versed , good on ya …… God works in awesome ways . He blessed me and put me in the place were I learned a lot from the sharing from both of you . I have been threw just about exactly what you lady have . God knows the end before the beginning ! I come back to this song. It’s been ten months since a new life has been birthed in me, since I left my last comment. A new heart, a new mind. But it has not been easy. God is continuing to break off all the negative strongholds that held me captive for 37 years! He has and is continually showing me a love that I never knew existed. I was taught he would leave me every time I sinned, that I had to get saved over and over and over again. I’m so glad God has set me free from that!! He has a new daughter!! One who is not afraid of him anymore but in awe of him. He’s not a God of wrath like people put him out to be. If only they knew his great love for them. It has been really hard to get rid of that mindset but now I am not alone! I have a wonderful church that teaches me that God loves me despite my flaws and shortcomings and a church family who loves me so much. I never have to put up with that torment again,, even though it does try to sneak it’s ugly head up from time to time. Last week was a struggle but God pulled me through. There’s still much healing that needs to take place from a very rough past but I know who holds me now and I now know he’s never letting me go! 😭🙌🏼❤️

So I could be totally wrong, but my interpretation of why there's two girls is the dark haired girl is the actual girl who is struggling and the blonde haired girl is the version of herself she sees inside fighting. Throughout the video the dark haired girl moves very little, but you visually see that she's struggling and fighting within her. The blonde girl represents the fire and awakening that is struggling to get out and as she struggles she continues to fight however she can, even if it's very little. When they "meet" there's a pause and in that moment she realizes that there is an opportunity to wake up, and the blonde girl gives her a comforting look, like in the way of grace or love and understanding. Through this moment she truly starts to let go and awaken within herself, fighting for it but eventually embracing her awakening and finally finding peace.

Struggled with crippling depression and apathy for years. I have truly felt how it feels to be stuck inside a shade of blue. I found this song and this album when it came out and remember it hitting me so hard. It still does today. As a Christian, I feel that Christian music doesn’t always accurately represent the real heaviness that some of us carry. For me, this song does that perfectly. Acknowledging the reality of the heaviness makes the freedom that comes from it in Christ so much more profound. Beautiful work, Amanda.

For those of you who are aware of the Law of Assumption and the power of imagination (also metaphorically mentioned several times in scripture), will easily relate to her saying "This is my awakening. That's the most apropos comment I've read so far. It makes a lot of sense that your soul knew what was real in this video. The dancing exceeds rational thought... The melody, the visual cues of tears, mirroring some kind of internal alignment with God in the midst of suffering... It's all congruent with a true journey of a soul of an artistic prophetic person coming to grips with their identity and realizing how... "Who they are & what they are called to" is never going to align to their external circumstances. Hearing God's voice, being in God's presence allows humans to receive an intimation of the Divine approach to making ALL things new. From hearts broken after relationships shattered to stars collapsing... From wild fires to earth quakes... From depression, elation, birth and death the way of God's (re)generative power will always feel like a mystery to people who's biology wants to instinctively avoid suffering. But the mystery of Easter is that it's through suffering, through death & loss (of many types) that Jesus resurrected presence is made manifest in his followers lives. It goes directly against our instincts & the Holy Spirit re-wires our feedback loops to show us Divine redemption in all, through all via the Christ in us, we in Christ. Thanks Amanda for persevering and allowing your pain to develop into an art form we can all benefit from if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Love this song, reminds me of a time when I was in a state of loneliness and depression and deep bondage, I imagined myself in shackles and as the song got closer to the climax towards the end I saw the cross with a white banner, and I saw myself before the cross my shackles broke off and I took that white garment from the cross and put it on, then I danced a new dance of freedom. March 3rd.. then March 11th.. the days of my awakening. Then I found this song just at the right time!! I will NEVER forget!! God you never quit on me. He never gives up on us. Even when we give up. He’s always there. He will restore that which was lost and taken. We have to loose to win.. a tree has to fall in the woods but it then gives rich life sustaining nutrients back to the ground. A Forest burns down but comes back as a new forest,, all things are redeemed and made new again through our death, suffering and pain. We may burn, we may fall but from that are made new beginnings!!!

To think that I may be weak that I may be sleeping or dead but God is doing His best work resurrecting me. To think that even when the music stops, He keeps singing over me! We can never go back after what our eyes have seen, His beauty and His redemption. I am soo HAPPY! I remember writing on Amanda's Peace rendition last year that I felt she was going through a situation so painful but prayed that God will work His grace in Her.. I love it. It lets us know there is more beyond the awakening, more than just being awakened from a dark place and time. A reintroduction of God’s love and light leading us out of our hiding place. And into the forest of life and new light and color. She says how can she figuratively go back into sleep mode now. This is part of the process. The song invites us to the rest of her new songs. I was brought here by a message by Christie Caine about anointing vs gifting done at WorshipU and I must say this is definitely Amanda Cook's lane. Some would say its dark or even evil or occult imagery but I would say that every thing before we have our "AWAKENING" and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior we are living a life that will lead to a literal hell. Although I have never had any bouts of depression in my life as I see depicted in this song and video, we must have compassion for those who do and help them to see the beauty of Christ, to see the brilliant artistry and colors He created for us, to dance to the drum beat in worship to our God and to see that God above all has accepted us and will sustain us as long as we cling to HIm.

I love this song, speaks so much to me, I can relate to the dark haired girl analogy in the video looking through the window in the house that is completely dark inside... a place of grief and mourning. It’s ok to feel sad, but is not ok to dwell there (like in depression) and make it your home... that’s not your home. For all the walls we have built, locking up, isolating, pretending to protect ourselves, God is still looking for us, showing us the sunlight every single day even if we decide to stay inside of comfort zone- And sometimes, we don’t want to be there but we feel like there’s no option more than dwell in sadness and pain, yet He comes closer so gentle like a whisper, like the morning sunlight and wakes us up from what is just a bad dream, a bad moment, not a bad life. What I love the most of this song is that more than just speaking about the struggle, it brings hope. Brings the main source of comfort and How Jesus Christ brings Color to a darkened life.
