No doubt, that shankar jaykishan were best out of them. It was difficult in those days, for every listener to find out even a single number to avoid.. Everyone of them was best. Naushad, SD vermen, shankar jaykishan, Roshan, Ravi.. Even chitragupta was giving lovely numbers. Thanks that Golden period, thank god that i was also a regular listener.. Aap the much older composer नौशाद साब किस तरह का इज्जत रफी रफी साहब को देते है जरा देखलो। Some of the old Doordarshan videos recorded before the death of Rafi Sahab on1980 July 31st will show how humble and respectful is Rafi Sahab towards Naushad Sahab who must be at least 15-20 years senior to Rafi Sahab and actually gave chances to Rafi Sahab in the initial years of Rafi Sahab ka struggle to become a singer in Hindi Cinema World. The name " Bollywood" hadn't evolved at that time and was not used anywhere till 1990's. शुरुवात में शायद नौशाद साहब और अनिल बिस्वास तरह Senior Composers might have been treating Rafi Sahab like a young novice but on realising and hearing the great talent and genius of Rafi Sahab they all started treating Rafi Sahab with great respect! Not only his musical genius made people to respect him..He was also a great human being with great humility, compassionate snd kind in his wirds abd deeds too! That great qualities as a great human being also is the reason for him to gain such respect in the Bombay Film Industry. Lathaji never used to call him any thing other than 'Rafi Saab' in spite of developing some disagreements and was not subging together for some time! Even during that time she spoke about him with great respect using the word ' Rafi Sahaab' ! Though they were of same age, the respect with which they treated each other was unmatchably great!
