The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey houses a number of birds who serve as educational ambassadors for their species. Penny, and American Kestrel, joined our team after someone took her from her nest to keep as a pet. She became imprinted on people and is no longer releasable. Curtis Evans, our Education Coordinator, has been flying her for school groups and public programs where he talks about kestrel decline. He recently added hovering to her behavior repertoire using positive reinforcement training techniques.
