@@southerngirlcooks Allow me to add good info & hope it's taken as just a suggestion. Baking the sweet potatoes is much better than boiling them in water. If you just coat them with EVOO & wrap in aluminum foil, you can lay them on a rack in the oven for about 2 hrs if they are large (less time if they are small or med size) @ 350 degrees. I mention this for this reason, @ 71 yrs old now & having to adapt to various different foods & how to better prepare them because, to be honest, my life depends on it these days, so I have become quite enlightened in my past 20 or years adapting. Bottom line, when you boil sweet potatoes instead of baking them, you lose so much more of the valuable nutrients & trace minerals this type of potato offers. If you bake them, coat them with EVOO & wrap them in foil & bake them, very little to none is lost which for me, is a Godsent. Our bodies require so many proteins, fats, carbos, nutrients & trace minerals but, as you age your body doesn't naturally produce near as many nutrients & trace minerals as you need to sustain life, not to mention a healthy immune system. Don't want to turn this into a mini-book ya'll but, just thought I would share so the info might benefit someone else. Sending much love to you Southern Girl!!! Take care now

Boil sweet potato whole in skin for 40 to 50 minutes, or until done. Run cold water over the sweet potato, and remove the skin. 2. Break apart sweet potato in a bowl. Add butter, and mix well with mixer. Stir in sugar, milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until mixture is smooth. Pour filling into an unbaked pie crust. 3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 55 to 60 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Pie will puff up like a souffle, and then will sink down as it cools. ***If you get "strings" of potato after you beat the sweet potato, rinse the beaters and mix potato again. TIP : If beating sweet potatoes and rinsing beaters before adding any other ingredients you will gather more of the strings and save on your costly ingredients. In other words remove the strings before adding ingredients! I do this two or three times before adding other ingredients. Don’t you just hate stringy sweet potato pie !

Similar to mined. I love adding smoked paprika to the sauce, not for color but added flavor. It doesn't over power the taste of the cheese, but marries with it giving it a taste that can only be described as gold.

Hi, Shantilly! You can always find the recipe and ingredients in the description box. :) Sweet Potato Pie Ingredients: For 1 deep dish pie: 1 (1 pound) sweet potato • 1/2 cup butter, softened • 1 cup white sugar • 1/2 cup milk • 2 eggs • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1 (9 inch) deeep dish unbaked pie crust For 2 traditional pies: •1.5 pounds sweet potato • 3/4cup butter, softened • 1.5 cup white sugar • 3/4cup milk • 3eggs • 3/4teaspoon ground nutmeg • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract • 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust Directions: 1. Repeat this process if necessary!

You don’t remove the strings in your potatoes?
@southerngirlcooks Жыл бұрын
The strings stick to my beaters. I NEVER have a problem with strings. Make sure you are buying rounded potatoes. They are less stringy.

Thanks this is one of the best example of sweet potato pie I have seen, I roast my potatoes then use just nutmeg and vanilla, that was a big potatoe
@janicemalone37203 жыл бұрын
This pie looked good, but I like to see cooks make sure that they get all of the strings out of the potatoes,washing the beaters off several times times before adding all other ingredients. I made it a habit of cracking each egg in a clear bowl before I mixed them into whatever I'm cooking.You don't want to make the mistake of putting a bad egg in your food, nor do you want shells in your food.
