I keep my Ranchu outside all year too, the strong healthy fish have no trouble overwintering and go on to produce strong resilient offspring. Love this common sense approach, fantastic fish! Beautifully bred.

Nice fish and setup. The bottom could do with a hoover though!

I think edo-nishiki only should be calico (with white not greater than 50%), but they are top/side view Japanese ranchus. Other Japanese breeds are rather red and white I believe. Good video again!

Do you use a heater for them during winter? It’s my first winter with my hundred gallon DIY pond and so far they’re doing good it gets down to about 50° here and there still eating I just wanted to know if I should get a heater for my ranchu and butterfly telescope goldfish! What do you suggest?
@AquaticElements3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I know this breeder doesn't use a heater but for the types you have I would probably place one in there to keep the water above 8-10 degrees centigrade. They may do well without it but for peace of mind this is what I would do. Thanks

Unfortunately this is a private breeder but you can find similar young fish for sale at star fisheries. Andy will be able to direct you to some good fish 😁

Is 88f to hot for ranchu
@AquaticElements3 жыл бұрын
For long term yes it's too hot personally. Long term I wouldn't want to keep them above 28 degrees. 25 degrees I find is the sweet spot 😁

These ranchu are really nice but definately not award wining type.

His indoor facility holds all of his show fish. Which have won many awards in the UK over the years.
