"Away in a Manger" tells the story of how Christ entered the world. He could have chosen to be born in a royal house, but He came into the world in a meek manger to feed cattle and sheep. Why? There was no room for Him in Bethlehem. Luke 2:7 says, “And she [Mary] brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.” It’s easy to criticize the people in town. How could they turn away the Messiah? Yet, we often fill our lives-our time, attention, money, and energy-with the things of this world, making Christ an afterthought. So my question is, “Is there room in your heart for Christ today?”
Lyrics:
Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
The Baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love You, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
Until morning is nigh
Be near me, Lord Jesus
I ask You to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Your tender care
And fit us for heaven
To live with You there
