The Church allows one to make religious art, sculptures etc. to remind us of Christ or angel or saint: it is not and idol, Catholics are not idol worshipers! The gold cherubim Ex. 25:18 and the bronze serpent Num. 21:9 were NOT objects of Worship. The cherubim symbolized the presence of God’s angels at the Ark of the Covenant, and the bronze serpent was God’s means of healing the people of poisonous snakebite. So too do Catholics statues represent the presence of the saints and angels in our churches and homes. Their lives, lived and died in Christ can inspire us, serving as a role models of encouragement.Council of Ephesus (AD 431) Mary is the mother of the second person of the Blessed Trinity because neither the Father nor the Holy Spirit were incarnate.
